New PENR Office in Agusan del Sur rises to better serve the people
BUTUAN CITY – In their desire to have a decent office conducive to working environment, the personnel of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Agusan del Sur headed by PENR Office Sixto C. Badua have pooled their time, efforts and resources to facilitate the building of a one-storey residential-type building that will house its 56 personnel and land records facilities.
The new PENRO office was inaugurated on September 2, 2009 following a mass and blessing ceremony of the building officiated by the Bishop of the Butuan City Archdiocese Juan de Dios Pueblos.
One of its advantages is that, the DENR will be able to save at least P 250,000 from the cost of rental payments annually. The other advantage is its accessibility to the people.
During the inauguration program, the Director of the Bureau of Forest Management Marlo D. Mendoza, who spoke as guest speaker at the occasion in behalf of the DENR Secretary Jose L. Atienza, Jr., has congratulated the DENR top officials in Caraga Region for the construction of the new PENRO office building in the area for the betterment of public service.
The new PENR office sits on a 4-hectare lot donated by the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur in 2002. The area was utilized before as a macro-somatic and seedling nursery station of the Ecosystem Research and Development Services but inadequate funds has push aside that program and paved the way for the construction of the PENRO building.
In his remark, DENR Regional Executive Director Edilberto S. Buiser has encouraged the personnel of the PENRO in Agusan del Sur to work hard with dedication of their duty to public service even with the acquisition of a new office building.
He commended the officers and staff of the PENRO for extending their cooperation and support just to ensure that building would be done ahead of schedule.
Director Buiser, however, admonished the government workers of PENRO to improve the quality standard of their services to the people which is the basic mandate of a civil servant. He said the building is just a tool being provided by the management to improve the delivery of services to the people.
Earlier, Bishop de Pueblos has commended the DENR officials headed by RED Buiser of their sincere efforts in pursuing the mandate and vision of the agency along the objective of a sustainable development on environment. (Herzon F. Gallego, DENR-13/ PIA-Caraga)
