36IB: Life over enemies

Life is more important than anything else in the world. With life there is always hope and with hope there is always chance.

The CPP/NPA/NDF-Extortionist Syndicate Group members of Front Committee 20 staged an ambush with the troops of 36IB at 10 o’clock on October 3, 2009 at Sta Maria Trento, Agusan del Sur. They were able to wound seven of its personnel and Thank God no one was killed. With the fatality of some of their wounds, the choice to pursue the enemy and to save the lives of their companions was left into the shoulders of the survivors, and they chose to save the remaining lives of their beloved comrades. The pursuit operation was conducted by the timely arrival of the reinforcement from other personnel of the same unit. The wounded were all evacuated safely to the hospitals.

You see, the life of their comrades promises a better future for their families especially for their children. They have seen that a life is better lived with your love ones. This is how your Philippine Army protects their own, each soldier defends the back of the one in front of them. Besides no one else can help them in times of war but themselves and their brotherhood that have developed overtime.

To all the rebels, you have added another crime into the long list of offenses you have done purposely for a senseless cause. We would like to reiterate the programs that the government is offering for your peaceful surrender and the choice to do it is now before it’s all over and while there is still hope for a better chance. Provide full support to affected employees, CSC enjoins heads of government offices

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has issued a memorandum circular enjoining all heads of government offices in Regions 3, 4A, National Capital Region and other areas declared as calamity areas to provide full assistance to their employees affected by the onslaught of Typhoon “Ondoy”.

The CSC said that government offices can make available appropriate financial assistance such as loans and donations, as allowed by internal policies and government accounting/budgeting rules. They can also undertake a campaign to collect clothes, food, cash and other donations for employees in need and other typhoon victims, and assign agency personnel to prepare relief goods.

Agency facilities can be made available for those who need temporary shelter, without compromising security and public service, the CSC added.

Moreover, government personnel who need to do major repair and/or cleanup of their home as a result of the typhoon can be granted special emergency leave of up to five days, which shall not be deducted against their leave credits. Additional days may be added to account for the time they were awaiting rescue and/or could leave their home. (CSC-13/ PIA-Caraga)
