City Tourism Council starts Search for the Mutya Hong Butuan screening
BUTUAN CITY, Mar. 27 - In line with the celebration of the Balangay Festival on May 2011, the present Butuan City Tourism Council chaired by Atty. Rema Erig-buagas Burdeos announces the screening of the Mutya Hong Butuan 2011 candidates on the respective dates: March 19, March 26, and April 2, 2011 every 2:00pm at the Conference Room 2, City Mayor’s Office, this city.
City Tourism Council bared that the candidates must be at least 16-25 years old, single and without a child, born Butuanon (parentage, residing, working, and studying in Butuan City), of good moral character and sound family background, at least 5’3” in height, articulate and personable.
The Mutya Hong Butuan is one of the highlights of the Balangay Festival. Other than the prestige, the most coveted awards and prizes will be contested. The events calendar is also being open now for stakeholders, partner organizations, and communities.

Tourism Frontliners Training Program launched at Butuan Airport
BUTUAN CITY, Mar. 27 - The Butuan City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., WE CAN Visayas & Caraga (Working of the Enhacement of the Chamber & Association Network in the Visayas & Caraga) together with the Department of Tourism – Caraga Regional Office and Butuan City Government through the City Tourism Office and Land Transportation and Traffice Management Office launched a two-day training on the tourism frontliners at the Butuan city Airport Pre-Departure Area on March 16 & 17, 2011.
The Civil Aviation Authority Philippines – Butuan City Manager Emmanuel H. Costelo welcome the participants and working partner agencies. Atty. Jaime Cembrano, City Councilor / Chairman, Committee on Tourism gave a message in behalf of the City Mayor Ferdinand M. Cembrano. Engr. Alan A. Silor, representing the Chamber, have iterated the need of the said training program with the economic thrusts related to tourism and entrepreneurship. Ms Arcily C. Gonzaga, SUA Councilor, hosted the opening ceremonies.
The training program targeted the Airport Porters and Van/Transport Operators in the Butuan Airport. However, other transport operators were still invited to attend. The training stressed on thePhilippine Tourism Industry, Communication Skills, Values Formation, Basic Reception, Tour Destination, and Guiding Techniques, and Road Safety. All participants will be able to receive a certificate for this training program.
This endeavour would like to achieve and advance the tourism standards, traffic management, and policy implementation especially to the increasing tourist arrivals in the region.
