TESDA awards P2.4M scholarship grants for Surigao Norte

SURIGAO CITY, July 25 (PIA) -- The Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) awarded recently around P2.4 million in scholarship grants for this school year to the province of Surigao del Norte under the Private Education Student Fund Assistance (PESFA) program.

The awarding of certificate of commitment was held during the recently held 1st Provincial Livelihood and Economic Summit in Surigao City.

A total 391 slots were made available to the two districts in the province with 312 slots awarded to the first district amounting to P1,849,087, and 79 slots allocated for the second district amounting to P548,700.

TESDA’s PESFA is directed to area-based critical skills that respond to emerging and highly in–demand job requirements in the local and overseas labor market which is purposely driven in accordance with the Seek–Find–Train–Certify-Employ policy of the agency.

The TESDA has come up with its qualification map or the list of courses based on the Key Employment Generators (KEGs) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) which in turn serves as basis for the scholarship vouchers.

Ang DENR miingon nga as of July 15, adunay total nga 22 million tree seedlings ang natanom sa 3,928 ektaryas nga government land libot sa nasod.

“At least 76 percent of the planting sites have been prepared thus far, with more to be completed in the second semester due to favorable weather,” ang DENR miingon.

“It is wrong to plant in summer. The trees planted will just wither and die,” siya miingon.
“Besides, if we plant during the rainy season, we no longer need to water the plants since the rain will nourish them,” dugang ni Mendoza.

“Some plant trees during summer because it is convenient but the right thing to do is plant during the rainy season, from mid-June to August or September. During summer, we do not have the capacity to water all the plants,” dugang pamahayag ni Mendoza .

“The difference is now, it is no longer a one-day affair, the students no longer plant all the trees in one day,” siya miingon.

“It depends on the climate of the province. As I’ve said it is better to plant during the wet season. The NGP is nationwide, and the climate of some provinces is not as flexible as the others,” siya namahayag.

“It is a continuing endeavor,” siya miingon.
