Agusan del Sur bagged awards in Red Cross Run for Humanity

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Aug. 22 (PIA) -- Fourteen runners from Agusan del Sur brought home awards from the Red Cross Run 2011 dubbed “Run for Humanity” in Tagum City.
Participated by some 4,000 runners from various groups and sectors from Davao del Norte and the neighboring provinces, all the 14 Agusan del Sur runners were decorated with awards after winning in various categories over their opponents.
Josephine Lumimbay grabbed the second place in the 18-kilometer run. Other finishers in the said category were: Eduardo Padios, 3rd place; Loicio Nicolas, 4th place; Raul Lopez on the 5th place; Jayson Lumimbay, 7th place; and Jeekee Concha, 10th place.
Ruby Joy Lopez grabbed the fifth place in the 12 years old and under category in their four-kilometer finisher run while Angelo Loyola, Nilo Nicolas and Anna Loren Lumimbay bagged the 7th, 5th and another 7th place in the Eight-kilometer finisher run respectively for boys and girls.
For the four-kilometer finisher run for boys and girls, Joan Rose Nicolas and Raymund Lopez both placed second. Jumar Lumimbay won third place in the top ten men’s eight-kilometer finisher.
A special award was given to Danilo Garcia, the Provincial Sports Development Coordinator, who grabbed the 4th place in the 50 years old and above category after finishing the prescribed distance.
The special event was made possible thru the cooperation of the Philippine Red Cross Davao del Norte Chapter in collaboration with KALINGA ng Liga ng mga Bise Mayor at Gobernador ng Davao del Norte and the 1st Davao del Norte Ready Reserve Battalion of the Philippine Army in commemoration of the International Humanitarian Law day. Agusan del Norte LGU conducts 13th steering committee meeting

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 22 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Agusan del Norte recently conducted the 13th Steering Committee Meeting on Co-Management Project, which is also known as Sustainable Agro-Forestry Development Project. The project covers the LASBUENASCAR (Las Nieves, Buenavista, Nasipit, and Carmen) area.
The meeting tackled the objectives and goals for allocation of funds for the said area. This was attended by Agusan del Norte Gov. Erlpe John M. Amante, as chairman of the committee, Board Members Rey Jamboy and Joseph Tomaneng, and other members with the presence of prospect foreign investors.
Gov. Amante bared that when the board members and foreign investors agree, accept and approve the concept, Agusanons will truly benefit from this.
Said meeting was held at the Provincial Investment Promotion Center, PEEDMO Building, Capitol Site, Butuan City. (PIA-Caraga)
Rebels torches army’s unfinished detachment

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, August 22 (PIA) -- The communist New People's Army (NPA) on August 20 burned down the unfinished detachment of the 30th Infantry Battalion located in Brgy. Bunyasan, Malimono in this province.
A report from 30IB’s Civil Military Officer Capt. Tony Bugawan revealed that the attack happened at around 7:40 pm, Saturday.
Bugawan said the NPA rebels then fired shots to the nearby houses that caused the people to panic.
In response, 30IB’s Bravo Company assigned in the area opened fire at the rebels.
The firefight lasted about 15minutes. Bugawan said no casualty was reported on the government side. It was not immediately known the number of casualties sustained by the rebels.
Meantime, residents of Malimono praised the heroic act of the Philippine Army force. They also vowed to support to the government forces in suppressing the rebel group in the area.
Earlier, residents of the neighboring municipality of San Francisco received NPA threats spread over text messages such as bombing explosion, assault and kidnapping of San Francicso Mayor Simplicia Bacol. Classes were suspended on that day.
As of press time, the army and police forces are still on heightened alert for possible attacks of the communist rebels, which is the armed component of the Communist Party of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front. (PIA-Surigao)

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 22 (PIA) -- Member agencies of the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) in Caraga region is set to convene for its 3rd quarter meeting on August 26, 1:00 p.m. at the Conference Room of the Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga Regional Office, this city.
According to Regional Coordinator Salma Jayne Alonto Tamano of the National Yotuh Commission (NYC), RAC is composed of government offices in Caraga that have programs and activities which cater to the youth sector.
“The purpose of the council is to meet every semester to share information, programs and other updates on the youth and to come up with resolutions and policy recommendations that would bring about youth development in the region,” Tamano said.
With this, member agencies are encouraged to gather recent issues and concerns related to youth that could be included for discussion during the meeting. (PIA-Caraga)

Ibinunyag ni Mr. Ricardo A. Balbido Jr., ang Presidente at CEO ng Veterans Bank, na siya ay lubusang nasiyahan nang masaksihan ang naturang exhibit na nagpakita sa mga karanasan ng mga beteranong sundalo sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalabas ng ibat-ibang videos, larawan at mga dokumento sa kasugsugan ng digmaan.

Matud pa ni CYLN Chief Executive Officer Rex YbaΓ±ez, ang OSY Web Portal ang pinakauna nga klase sa proyekto dri ra Pilipinas nga motutok sa mga out-of-school youth.
