Sec Gazmin to lead groundbreaking of Surigao Norte provincial hospital

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin will lead today the groundbreaking of the new provincial hospital at Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Placer, this province.
The 50-bed medical facility has an initial funding of P50 million which is set to benefit thousands of people, especially those of low income living in the area.
Gov. Sol Matugas,1st District Rep. Francisco Matugas, 2nd District Rep. Guillermo Romarate and Placer Mayor Felimon Napuli will assist Sec. Gazmin and Department of Health officials during today’s groundbreaking rites at the two-hectare site.
Matugas revealed that that project was finally realized after Sec. Gazmin recently approved the swapping of the two-hectare property owned by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Placer with the property of the provincial government located at Brgy. Magpayang, Mainit. (PIA-Surigao del Norte)

Phil. Red Cross AgNor-Butuan City Chapter reports 2011 accomplishments; sets 2012 activities

BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Agusan del Norte has presented its accomplishments for 2011 and set the activities for 2012 during the regular meeting held recently at the GR Banaag RCY Development Center here.
Officers of the following committees also reported its accomplishments as of December 2011 in the following areas: Disaster Management Service; Blood Services; Safety Services; Community Health and Nursing Service; Red Cross Youth; Social Services; and Fund Generation.
The PRC had 264 blood donors in December. It also conducted a total of 56 blood services activities within the month in partnership with other stakeholders.
Administrator Cairo urged the public to donate more blood. He also stressed that blood donors should be within the age range of 16-65 years old. A 16-year old donor needs parental consent; while 65 years old person may be allowed to donate blood may he is a regular donor.
The following activities will be conducted as part of the Red Cross' fund generation: 1) Bingo for a Cause on May 5, 2012; 2) Dinner Date with Acoustics on August 24, 2012; and 3) Raffle Bonanza on December 19, 2012.
Meanwhile, Dr. Virgilio Nery Jr, city councilor commends the efforts and active participation of the PRC in the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. (PIA-Caraga)

PNP-Caraga to intensify police visibility

BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- There will be intensified police visibility in Caraga region.
This is according to Police Regional Office (PRO) Caraga Regional Director Reynaldo Rafal.
Rafal said police personnel need to be visible especially in crime-prone areas.
The official also said that the PNP will look into holdup-robbery incidents early this year, and provide immediate solution to these.
He also said in an earlier discussion with Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr., they agreed that the PNP Regional Office will augment the number of police personnel in Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) to see to it that police visibility will be properly implemented.
“Nag-usap na kami ni Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. tungkol dito para ma-improve natin ang police visibility sa area (We have discussed this matter with Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. to improve police visibility in some areas here)," Rafal said.
The region’s PNP chief also said that a reliable source told him that the city government will be donating electricity-driven cars for police mobilization.
“I’ve heard that the city government will be donating electricity-driven cars for police visibility and to counter motorcycle riding in tandem suspects,” the official said.
With this, the official said police personnel can run after those suspects which continuously proliferating and victimizing not only people from the city but as well as visitors. (PIA-Caraga)

Sa iyang mensahe atol sa Philippine Air Force (PAF) Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony ni Gen. Oscar Rabena didto sa Grandstand sa Jesus Villamor Airbase sa Pasay City kagahapon Martes, gibatbat sa Pangulo ang paningkamot ug dedikasyon sa matag sundalo, partikularmente ang PAF mao nga siya misaad sa padayon paghatag og mga proyekto alang sa epektibong serbisyo ngadto sa katawhan.
“Makaaasa kayo na katuwang ninyo ang gobyerno upang makalipad pa sa mas mataas na papawirin at mas epektibong makapaglingkod ang hukbong himpapawid sa atin pong mga boss (Filipino people),” ang Pangulo miingon.
“Mulat po tayong kailangan pang palakasin ang inyong hanay, kaya naman makaaasa kayo sa tuloy-tuloy na modernisasyon ng inyong hanay upang mas mapabuti pa ang inyong serbisyo publiko… manalig kayo na hindi babalewalain ng ating administrasyon ang inyong pagmamalasakit sa bayan… susuklian natin ito ng karampatang kalinga at serbisyo para sa inyong kapakanan at ng inyong pamilya,” sa iyang pagdugang.
