Club officers commit to empower OFWs in Surigao
del Sur

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, May 1 (PIA) --
Sixteen sets of officers have committed to empower all overseas Filipino
workers (OFWs) in Surigao del Sur, after taking oath as the new officers for
the OFW family clubs from the 16 municipalities of the province of Surigao del
Sur.
The oath-taking ceremony, conducted during the
Organizational Development Seminar here, was graced by representatives from the
local government units, provincial government of Surigao del Sur, Department of
Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment – province of Surigao
del Sur, and was spearheaded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration
(OWWA)-Caraga Regional Welfare Office, through the leadership of Regional
Director Dr. Marietta A. Lumawag.
According to Dir. Lumawag, more than 130
officers from the different municipalities and two cities of Surigao del Sur
are now part of the legitimate officers of the OFW organizations in the region.
Lumawag further said the newly inducted sets of
officers were informed on their duties and responsibilities as leaders of their
organizations.
OWWA-Caraga has also committed to continuously
monitor, guide and support them in the movements they are to take for the

Surigao del Sur Agriculture chief agrees to stop
rice importation in 2013

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, May 1 (PIA) -- The
chief provincial agriculturist in Surigao del Sur believes that the Philippines
can already do away with rice importation in 2013.
Provincial Agriculturist Marcos Quico said, with
the way the Department of Agriculture (DA) is supporting the province as seen
in its disbursement of funds, is proof that Secretary Proceso Alcala is
“serious” in solving the rice shortage problem in the country.
Alcala reportedly plans to stop rice importation
next year.
Quico stressed that Surigao del Sur got P700
million allocation this year for irrigation projects alone. He added that this
is more than the P600 million funding of the National Irrigation Administration
office here is expecting to receive.
He cited that statistically, the Philippines has
only 1.7 million metric tons of rice deficit “to close the gap.” (NGBT/DXJS

Si Amante nidugang sa pagklaro nga ang
pagpakig-alayon sa law enforcement agencies aron makab-ot ang kalampusan sa
peace and order nagagikan sa pagtinabangay sa matag ahensya labi na sa atong
panngamhanan.
Samtang gibutyag usab ni Vice Mayor Atty.
Lawrence Fortun nga ang PNP angayang pakusgon ang kapasidad niini sa pagpalambo
sa kahanas pinaagi sa pagpartisipar og training.
“Atong palapdan ang serbisyo nga atong madalit

ang koordinasyon sa mga ahensiya sa panggamhanan.
Sigon ni OIC PSSupt Pedro Obaldo Jr. nga gikan
Marso 15 hngtud Abril 28 sa tuig 2011 adunay 75 ka krimen nga insidente nga
nahibaluan samtang karon nga tuig sa samang bulan kini aduna lamang 69 ka mga
krimen nga nahitala.
“Kini tungod sa padayon nga pagmonitor sa,
surveillance, ug koordinasyon sa PNP ngadto sa lokal nga mga opisyales ug ubang
ahensiya ingon man ang komunidad sa ilang lugar kung diin matag usa adunay
responsibilidad,” ingon niya.
Si Obaldo usab giklaro nga sila padayon sa
pagpakusog sa ilang kampanya batok sa illegal nga droga, wanted persons,
illegal mining machineries, ug pagpangsikop sa mga theft suspects ug recovery
sa mga kinawat nga butang.
“Sa niining paagi, kami nituo nga ang insidente
sa krimen sa dakbayan ma-manage ra,” ingon ni Obaldo.
Samtang si Obaldo nangayo sa kooperasyon sa
publiko ug nagdasig kanila sa pagsuporta sa kampanya aron makab-ot ang tiunay
