Tourism Week Celebration to culminate with “Tree Growing” in Tandag City

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Sept. 24 (PIA) -- The city government will conduct a “Tree Growing” activity in time with the culmination of the Tourism Week celebration.

Florence Abis, city tourism officer, said the celebration started on September 21 with a tourism video presentation at Vicente L. Pimentel Sr. Boulevard where film showing was conducted during the weekend.

On September 22, the “Fun Run” was successfully conducted, participated in by employees of the city government, national government agencies and youth followed by the "Hataw" or physical exercise.

Abis also said that on September 23, a coastal cleanup along the shorelines of Mabua Beach was held, participated in by ROTC students from Surigao del Sur State University.

Abis further said the activities supposedly end on September 27 which falls on a working day, but it was extended to September 29 so interested participants can join the said event.

NSO-Surigao Sur conducts consultative forum for 2012 Census of Agriculture, Fisheries

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Sept. 24 (PIA) -- The National Statistics Office-Surigao del Sur office held a Consultative Forum on September 24 at Mabua, Tandag City, in preparation for the 2012 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF).

Said forum is geared to instill awareness among representatives from involved local government units and sectors on agriculture and fisheries; to solicit support from them; and to disseminate results of the previous 2002 CAF to them.

Forty-six people participated in the forum, comprising of city/municipal agriculture officers, agricultural technicians, and chairperson/presidents of the different agriculture and fisheries associations/organizations.

The lecturers were Marito W. Elisan, Jennifer C. Estose, and Marilyn A. Octobre all from the NSO.

Presented were overview of the 2012 CAF, data appreciation of the previous CAF, and data items for the 2012 CAF.

After the presentations, an open forum was facilitated by Luis P. Dwatin Jr. also of the NSO.

Evaluation of the forum and analysis on the data items to be included were solicited from participants through evaluation/recommendation forms.

The 2012 CAF will be undertaken this coming February 2013. It is mandated by Executive Order 352 which requires generation of data for decision-making of government and private sector.

The CAF 2012 is the sixth census undertaken on a large scale, geared toward the collection and compilation of statistics on the nation's agriculture and fisheries sectors.

BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 24 (PIA) -- Sunud-sunod na aktibidad ang isinagawa sa rehiyon para sa pagdiriwang ng Peace Month ngayong taon.

Ang pagdiriwang ay inihanda ng Caraga Region Institute of Peace (CRIP), Caraga Leader’s Networt (CYLN), General Peace Network, sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Caraga, Deapartment of Education (DepEd) Caraga, Local Government of Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur State University (SDDDU) at Butuan Cty Vice Mayor atty. Lawrence Fortun.

Ayon kay CRIP Chairperson and Executive Director Rex YbaΓ±ez, ang mga estudyante mula sa iba't ibang paaralan ay lumahok sa mga aktibidad bilang tagataguyod ng kapayapaan.

Nagsagawa rin ng campus tours sa mga sumusunod na paaralan: 1) Sunrise Christian College; 2) Lumbocan High School; at 3) Agusan Colleges.

Kasama sa campus tours na isinagawa ang poster at story-making contest. Nagsagawa rin ng magkasabay na division-wide Student Leaders and Advisers' Seminar on Peace and Human Rights at DepEd Butuan City at Agusan del Sur.

Ang Caraga State University (CSU), Holy Child Colleges of Butuan (HCB) at Father Urios High School (FUHS) ay nagsagawa rin ng parehong seminar na ginanap sa kani-kanilang mga paaralan.

Ang CRIP ay isang nonprofit institution na may layuning palawakin ang civic engagement, education at leadership development opportunities para sa mga taga-Caraga upang suportahan ang peace initiatives at palaganapin ang mga batas na sumusuporta sa kapayapaan at pagkakaisa. (RER/DSM/PIA-Caraga)


Tagalog news: Pagdiriwang ng Elderly Filipino Week pinaghahandaan sa Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Set. 24 (PIA) -- Pangungunahan ng Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) ang pagdiriwang ng Elderly Filipino Week na gaganapin ngayong Oktubre 1 hanggang 6.

Ayon kay Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) Chief Imelda Mupas-Nonan, ang aktibidad ay ipinagdiriwang sa buong bansa sa ilalim ng Proclamation No. 470, kung saan idinideklara ang unang linggo ng Oktubre bilang Linggo ng Katandaang Pilipino (Elderly Filipino Week).

Ang pagdiriwang ay sisimulan sa pamamagitan ng “Jog for Health” sa Agusan del Norte Provincial Capitol covered court papuntang Guingona Park, kung saan isang “Hataw” naman ang isasagawa na susundan ng isang maikling programa.

Sa hapon ng parehong araw, ang senior citizens ay lalahok sa "Elderlympics” at “Pabibo Day.”

May mga laro at sports din na inihanda para sa kanila na gaganapin sa Butuan-by-the-River para sa mga indoor na mga palaro at sa fire department basketball court naman para sa mga outdoor na palaro.

Sa Oktubre 2, isang medical mission ang isasagawa sa Guingona Park, na magsisimula sa alas-7 ng umaga. Sa Oktubre 3, inaanyayahan ang publiko na saksihan ang senior citizens’ table setting/food presentation/food-carving contest na gaganapin sa provincial capitol covered court.

Sa Oktubre 4, isang cultural show ng senior citizens ang ipapalabas sa multipurpose hall/sports center sa Barangay Doongan, ng lungsod.

Sa interbyu sa radyo dzRB Radyo ng Bayan niadtong Sabado, gipasalamatan ni Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte ang mga magbabalaod tungod kay gihatagan niini og prayoridad ang pagtuki sa maong budget.

"It seems that both Houses are making good time on deliberating on the budget, we thank our legislators for that. And mukha namang on track naman katulad nung mga earlier pronouncements ni Speaker Belmonte at ni Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile that they will be paying due attention to the budget. And so far, we are on track for the deliberation," matud ni Valte.
