Barangay Food Terminal Project set for
implementation

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 26 (PIA) -- A barangay based
food depot and distribution system that will offer safe and quality agri
fishery products at low prices to consumers will soon be established in the
city.
In its regular session, the Sangguniang
Panlungsod has passed a resolution authorizing City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr.
to enter into and sign, for and in behalf of the City Government of Butuan, a
memorandum of agreement (MOA) by and among the Department of
Agriculture-Regional Field Unit XIII and the Butuan City New Villages
Cooperative for the implementation of Barangay Food Terminal Project.
The Barangay Food Terminal is a project to
enable farmers to establish a direct and effective means to offer said products
straight to consumers but also encouraging and empowering other barangays to
engage in the same venture thereby increasing more business undertakings
consequently generating economic growth and, equally important, promoting the
welfare of the people of Butuan.
Sharing the same aspiration of providing more
livelihood projects for the people Butuan, the SP under the leadership of Vice
Mayor Lawrence “Law” Fortun expressed full support to the project with the
passage of the said resolution.
The project is set for implementation early next
