Caraga RDC passes resolution to include the DOJ
and PCA as members of the PICO

PATIN-AY, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur -- The
Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC) passed a resolution requesting the
amendment of Memorandum Circular No. 129 (S. 1991), establishing the Port
Integrated Clearance Office (PICO) in all major ports in the country, to
include the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Philippine Coconut Authority
(PCA) as members.
During the recent RDC full council meeting here,
National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Asst. Regional Director Mylah
Faye Carino presented the resolution to hasten the issuance of court order to
open sealed container vans suspected of carrying illegal items.
“In addition, the RDC Development Administration
also proposed the inclusion of the Philippine Coconut Authority as member in
order to look after possible illegal shipment of naturally grown trees which
maybe mixed together with coconut lumber in the container vans," Carino
said. "The presence of the PCA in the PICO would also tighten the
monitoring and checking of the shipment of coconut lumber and seeds without
permit from the PCA,” Carino said.
A few months ago, millions worth of logs and
flitches were seized in Butuan City along the Agusan River by the authorities

Surigao del Sur free from red tide toxin --BFAR

BUTUAN CITY, Nov. 28 (PIA) -- The Bureau of
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Caraga said Hinatuan, Bislig and Lianga
Bays in Surigao del Sur are free from red tide toxin.
In its Shellfish Bulletin No. 27 dated November
23, 2012, BFAR said all shellfish around the area of Surigao del Sur are safe
for human consumption.
However, shellfish from the waters of
Dumanquillas Bay, Zamboanga del Sur, Murchelagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and
Misamis Occidental are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison, and all
kinds of shellfish are not safe for consumption.
BFAR reminded the people to avoid consuming
shellfish and alamang from the affected areas.
They also said fish, squid, shrimps and crabs
are safe for human consumption provided that these are fresh and washed
thoroughly and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before

LUNGSOD NG BUTUAN, Nob. 28 (PIA) -- Inihahanda
na ng Regional Cooperative Development Council (RCDC) at ng Cooperative
Development Authority (CDA) ang papalapit na ‘Cooperative Advocacy Run’ na
gaganapin ngayong Disyembre 12.
Ang mga kalahok ng fun run ay magtitipon ng alas
4:30 n.u., magsisimula din ang fun run eksaktong alas-5 ng umaga sa Father
Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) Gymnasium at magtatapos sa Agusan del Norte
Provincial Covered Court, Butuan City.
Isang "Hataw exercise" at short
program naman ang inihanda kasabay ng awarding ceremony para sa mga outstanding
cooperatives sa taong ito na gaganapin din sa parehong lugar ng pagdadausan.
Ayon kay CDA-Caraga Regional Director Manuela
Pelaez, ang taong 2012 ay makasaysayan para sa kooperatiba, hindi lang ng
nasyonal kundi pati na rin sa internasyonal dahil sa resolusyon 64/136 ng
United Nation na idinideklara ang taon ng 2012 bilang International Year of
Cooperatives (IYC).
“Ang selebrasyon sa taong ito ang kauna-unahang
pagkakataon na magsasagawa ng isang fun run sa lungsod ng Butuan. Kami ay
umaasa na ito ay dadaluhan ng mga miyembrong kooperatiba sa rehiyon, mga
ahensya ng pamahaan at ng iba't ibang ahensya. Wala pong registration fee,
libre po ang fun run,” ani Pelaez.
Ito ay isang paraan ng sektor ng mga kooperatiba
na mabuo ang tema ng IYC na “Transformative Cooperative for People, Planet
Prosperity at Peace.”
“Gusto po naming ipagpatuloy ang momentum na ito
at ipagpatuloy ang adbokasiya sa mga tao na itaguyod ang cooperativism at maging
miyembro ng coop,” dagdag pa ni Pelaez.
Samantala, ayon kay Pelaez, mayroong 160
kooperatiba sa lungsod ng Butuan at may 50 na ahensya ng pamahalaan na aktibong

education agenda nga nagtinguha aron isilsil sa tanang mga estudyante ang kaayo
sa pagbasa, gipangulohan ni Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III ang paghandum sa
“Araw ng Pagbasa” (A Day of Reading, A Day of Hope) sa usa ka seremonya nga
gipahigayon didto sa Teodora Alonso Elementary School sa Quezon City kagahapon.
Ang Pangulo, miabot uban nila Education
Secretary Armin Luistro, Quezon City Representative Jorge Banal, Jr. ug Teodora
Alonso Elementary School Principal Alicia Masubay, ug mikuyog sa mga estudyante
sa story telling session aron sugdan ang maong kalihukan.
Ang mga estudyante nga gikan sa fifth grade

Ang Araw ng Pagbasa maoy usa ka opisyal nga
kalihukan isip pagtak-op sa National Reading Month sa bulan sa Nobyembre nga
gideklara sa Department of Education niadtong 2011.
Karon sa ikaduhang tuig niini, ang Araw ng
Pagbasa nagpakita sa ka-importansya sa pagbasa ug giawhag ang uban pang mga
eskuylahan sa paghimo og susamang mga aktibedades nga magsuporta sa maong
kalihukan.
Araw ng Pagbasa started in 2008 as a
district-initiative of Banal when he was a City Councilor.
Ang Araw ng Pagbasa gisugdan niadtong tuig 2008
isip inisyatibo sa distrito ni Banal sa dihang Konsehal pa siya sa maong
syudad.
Niadtong 2009, ang Konseho sa Quezon City
mipasar sa Resolution No. 332 paghimo sa maong kalihukan nga city-wide
celebration.
Niadtong 2011, ang DepEd mihimo sa Araw ng
