BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 5 -- The top 10 barangays here
who qualified for the first evaluation round in the "Search for 2013
Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards for Highly Urbanized City Category"
are the following: Dagohoy, Tandang Sora, San Ignacio, Buhangin, Ampayon,
Anticala, Libertad, Pinamanculan, San Vicente, and Tiniwisan.
They will undergo another round of a month-long
evaluation starting February 5, 2013 in which five barangays will be eliminated
and the Top 5 will be determined.
Last year, Brgy. San Vicente bested 85 barangays
in the city and also emerged as the Grand Winner of the 2012 Lupong
Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards for Highly Urbanized City Category in the whole
country.
The Lupong Tagapamayapa in all barangays is
created under the Katarungang Pambarangay Program (KPP) of the Department of

Civil registrar, Pag-IBIG to sponsor Caraga mass
civil wedding
BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 5 (PIA) -- The Civil
Registrar’s Office here, in partnership with Pag-IBIG Fund Caraga Region is now
geared up for yet the grandest Mass Civil Wedding in the city which will be
held at the newly-renovated Guingona Park come Valentine’s Day.
In an interview with Judith Alvizo-Calo, city
civil registrar, the wedding will be free for participating couples. They will
be exempted from any charge including that for the issuance of the Affidavit of
Cohabitation Fee.
Calo added that this year’s Wedding is extra
special because Pag-IBIG Fund Caraga Region, aside from providing the free
wedding rings, will also raffle out a brand new house for a lucky couple.
The City Civil Registrar would also like to
inform the public that the said program will just be available for a hundred
couples. Thus, she is urging those interested couples who would want to avail
of the free wedding to visit their office for the necessary requirements.
The Mass Civil Wedding has been a yearly event
for the local government of Butuan City which aims to legally bind unwed
couples, especially those who have already been living together.
The Registrar’s Office is located at the ground
floor of the City Hall Building and opens from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through
