Butuan Youth Dev’t Council hosts training on
public speaking

BUTUAN CITY, April 19 (PIA) -- The Local Youth
Development Council (LYDC) here is leading today’s "Communication Skills
Workshop: A Training on Public Speaking" with the members of the Regional
Youth Advisory Council (RYAC) from government agencies and partner stakeholders
at the Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort, this city.
Said training is facilitated by the office of
the city mayor’s in coordination with Toastmasters International which is
composed of Butuan City, Cagayan de Or,o and Iligan City.
According to LYDC Coordinator and Community
Affairs Officer Agnes Carlos, the invited speakers will share tips and
techniques in the management of programs such as a master of ceremonies; when
doing invocation; when introducing a speaker; when tasked as a presenter or
moderator. “They will also showcase a Regional Champion in Public Speaking. It
is a Speech Craft, the Toastmasters’ way,” she said.
Carlos added that the Human Resource Development
is one of the legacy a leader can share with the constituents and the
frontliners in the delivery of services. Thus, this is the priority concern of
the chief executive.

30IB commemorates 40th Founding Anniversary

SURIGAO CITY, Apr. 19 -- The 30th Infantry
"Python" Battalion, Philippine Army (30IB, PA) commemorated recently
its 40th Founding Anniversary through the conduct of various activities that
emphasized the Philippine Army’s commitment to continuously support the
nation’s goal of environment protection, delivery of social services to the
people, and development.
Seventy-four youngsters were circumcised and
given free medicine during the joint Operation “Tuli” and 60 children benefited
in a Mass Feeding program conducted by the 30IB, PA in cooperation with the
Provincial Health Office, Barangay Council of Banbanon, 4th Forward Support
Medical Company, Service Support Battalio,4ID, PA, held at the Barangay
Gymnasium of Barangay Banbanon, San Francisco, and at the Headquarters of 30IB
in Sta. Cruz, Placer, all in Surigao del Norte.
Fifty assorted fruit-bearing trees were also
planted during the tree-planting activity at the Military Reservation Area in
Barangay Sta. Cruz, Placer, Surigao del Norte.
The commemoration culminated with a Thanksgiving
Mass officiated by Msgr. Tirso Alcala, parish priest of Barangay Sta. Cruz,
attended by military personnel, dependents, and visitors held at the
battalion's headquarters.
In his message, 30IB Commanding Officer,
Lieutenant Colonel Vincent B. Iringan said that the 30IB troop continues to
reach out to be stakeholders’ partner for peace and development and build a
strong foundation of trust and confidence with the local government units,
local government agencies, and other stakeholders in the communities.
He also said that the troops had proven once
again among the communities "that no matter how different our views in
life are, and regardless of our profession, we can unite for a common goal and

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Abril 19 (PIA) -- Ibinigay
bilang donasyon ng Estados Unidos sa Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang makabagong
biometrics para tulungang mapalakas ang kapabilidad ng ahensiya na makahuli ng
mga dayuhang may pananagutan sa batas at iba pang mga illegal na dayuhan.
Pormal nang tinanggap ni BI Commissioner Ricardo
David Jr. mula kay Ambassador Harry Thomas ng America ang mga naturang
kagamitan sa isang simpleng seremonya sa mismong embahada ng Amerika sa Maynila
noong Huwebes.
Pinasalamatan ni Comm. David si Amb. Thomas at
ang pamahalaan ng America sa kanilang walang humpay na suporta sa kampanya ng
BI na mapaunlad ang kanilang mga pasilidad at mapalakas ang kanilang abilidad
para maipatupad ang mga batas ng immigration.
Sa bahagi naman ni Amb. Thomas, nangako ito na
palalakasin pa ang samahan ng BI at ng pamahalaan ng Amerika sa pagtutulungan
labanan ang human trafficking at mga kriminal mula sa iba’t ibang bansa.
Sinabi ni Comm. David na ang mga kagamitang
biometrics ay makakatulong sa mga opisyal at intelligence operatives na malaman
ang mga tiwaling dokumento at mapigilan ang pagpasok ng mga dayuhang nagtatago
sa batas at nakalista sa talaan ng mga pinaghahanap ng batas na mga dayuhan.
Ang mga kagamitan ay gagamitin ng sangay ng BI
intelligence at ng mga operatiba sa paliparan na nakabase sa Ninoy Aquino
International Airport (NAIA).
Ipinaliwanag ng pansamantalang hepe ng BI na si
Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang na kapag may mga kagamitang biometrics,
magkaroon ng masmalawak at kapanipaniwalang talaan ang BI ng mga ilegal na
dayuhan at mga dayuhang pinaghahanap ng batas at operatiba ng immigration
intelligence.
Sinabi rin ni Mangrobang na ang kagamitan ay
makapagtatala ng mga marka ng daliri at ang mga datos na maiilalagay sa
database, kasama ang mga larawan.
Dagdag pa ni Atty. Mangrobang na ganoon ding
proseso ang gagawin ng mga opisyal ng immigration sa NAIA para sa mga dayuhang
hindi kasali sa listahan at mga may kinasasangkutang krimen sa mga pangunahing
daungan.
“Ito ay makapipigil sa mga nakalistang dayuhan
na may kinasasangkutang krimen sa pagpasok muli sa bansa kahit sila ay gagamit
ng ibang pangalan, pasaporte o kaya itatago ang kanilang pisikal na kaanyuan,”
