DOLE-Caraga, partner-agencies to hold jobs fair
on May 1

BUTUAN CITY, April 23 (PIA) – Some 40 local
companies and 12 overseas recruitment agencies will participate in a jobs fair
on May 1 in Butuan City and other areas in Agusan del Sur in celebration of
this year’s Labor Day.
The event is part of activities lined up by the
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga with partner agencies and
stakeholders.
“Thirty percent of the total registered job
applicants during the Labor Day celebration on May 1 at the AMA Computer
Learning College, Butuan City will be hired on the spot by the different
participating companies,” DOLE-Agusan del Sur Provincial Dir. Naomilyn Abellana
said.
At 5:30 a.m., a holy mass will be celebrated at
the St. Joseph Cathedral here while at 7 a.m., the motorcade will follow from
the Guingona Park passing through J.C. Aquino Avenue and City Hall to
DOLE-Caraga Regional Office. The opening program, awarding and games will then
be held at the DOLE grounds.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)
Caraga Regional Dir. Ron Lionel Bartolome also announced that on the same day,
a Livelihood Trade Fair will be held at the DOLE grounds from 10:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m.
“There will also be product exhibits, promo
diskwento and ukay-ukay at the same venue,” Bartolome added.
Ms. Tranquiling Cordora, representative from
JAKA Equities Corp., said that during the Labor Day celebration, they will be
conducting a Feeding Program activity that would benefit the 200 indigent
children at the dumpsite in Barangay Doongan, Butuan City and 40 children of the
‘Angel Tree Project’ by the DOLE-Caraga and partner agencies.
“In time with the Labor Day celebration, we
committed P10,000 for the ‘Angel Tree Project wherein these children will
receive bags and other school supplies. The parents of these children will also
be given livelihood by DOLE and other concerned agencies so they can
continuously send their children to school and prevent child labor,” stressed
Cordora.
On the same day, the Regional Career Advocacy
Congress and Pilot Testing of Kasambahay Registration will also be held at the
DOLE grounds.
The jobs fair set on May 1 will last on May 2,
2013 at the AMA Computer College, Butuan City. With this, the public is
encouraged to participate on the 2-day affair and grab the opportunities to
work with big companies - local and overseas.

"Manggagawang Pilipino: Handa sa Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon (Filipino

"Run for Cause” highlights Earth Day
celebration in Surigao del Sur

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, April 23 (PIA) –
The Save Our Surigao (SOS) Movement, in cooperation with the Bantay Kalikasan
of the ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. will hold a run for a cause on April 27, to be
participated by different sectors in this province.
Dubbed “Dagan Para sa Kinaiyahan” (Run for
Nature), the event will be graced by the special participation of the ABS-CBN
Foundation Managing Director Ms. Gina Lopez and showbiz personalities Gerald
Anderson and Maja Salvador.
With these developments, the organizers enjoined
interested party to registered now at Tandag Electric and Telephone Company
(TETCO) Office, Rural Bank of Tandag, and all Parish Convent Office

Public welcomed Reproductive Health law

BUTUAN CITY, April 23 (PIA) -- Full-range of
reproductive health and family planning services are now accessible for the
public as stipulated in the Responsible Parenthood-Reproductive Health law.
Participants to a series of forums here
expressed support and said they eagerly await its implementation in the region.
The Policy Forum on RA 10354, otherwise known as
the RP-RH Act of 2012, organized by the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on
Population and Development (PLCPD) in coordination with the local governments
was participated by multi-sectoral groups in Bislig, Tandag and Agusan del
Norte respectively.
The PLCPD said the orientation of the RA 10354
was a good venue for the various sectoral groups to have a deeper understanding
and appreciation on the different provisions of the RP - RH law.
As provided under Section 7 of the Republic Act
10354, all accredited public health facilities shall provide a full range of
modern family planning methods, which shall include medical consultations,
supplies and necessary and reasonable procedures for poor and marginalized
couples having infertility issues who desire to have children.
Based on its Section 8, evidence-based
programming and budgeting process shall be conducted for the development of
more responsive reproductive health services to promote women’s health and safe
motherhood.
As the main presenter, Mr. Alexander A. Makinano
pointed-out that said law will protect the health and lives of mothers and
their children through access to services and information on reproductive
health and would ensure hiring and training of a skilled health professionals.
A similar activity was also organized by the
PLCPD for the media practitioners here in Butuan City to ensure wider
information dissemination to the general public.
The PLCPD is a non-stock, non-profit,
membership-type organization established in 1989 by a group of progressive

(FnF) ay pinangunahan ang kauna-unahang 5K Freedom Run noong abril 20.
Ang takbo ay naglalayong magbigay pansin sa
pakikilahok ng mga pinuno ng pamahalaan at mga kawani, ang civil society at ang
mga kabataan upang taasan ang kamalayan at sa huli ay maitanim sa isip ang
halaga ng pag-aalaga sa kapaligiran, malinis na eleksyon at ang kalayaan sa
katiwalian.
Mahigit 1,000 runners ang lumahok sa aktibidad
na kung saan ay nagsimula at magtatapos sa Guingona Park sa lungsod na ito.
Dahil ang pagpapatala ay libre, isang
pre-registration ang ginanap sa tanggapan ng bise alkalde na kung saan ay
humakot ng 800 registrants na nabigyan ng free singlets.
Ang aktuwal na pagpapatala ay nagsimula ng
ikaapat hanggang ikalima ng umaga. Ang aktibidad ay humantong sa isang maikling

ang kanilang ulat ukol sa Basic Disaster Management sa buwan ng Pebrero at
Marso sa Con Con Hall, Balanghai Hotel Convention Center.
Ayon sa ulat, serye ng pagsasanay ang naisagawa
ng chapter tulad ng walong klase ng Standard First Aid at Basic Life Support
Healthcare Providers Training Course, tatlong klase ng Tailored First Aid at
Basic Life Support Adult Lay Rescuer Training Course, tatlong klase ng Basic
Water Safety Training Course at may 22 magkahiwalay na okasyon ng First Aid
Station at Ambulance Services.
Ang chapter ay nagpapatuloy sa mga isinasagawang
mga Community Based Health at First Aid Project sa Municipality ng Carmen sa
koordinasyon ng town’s Rural Health unit sa pamamagitan ng Municipal Health
Officer, ayon sa report. Ang Community Health Volunteers ay nagsasagawa rin ng
health education at campaign activity para sa First Aid sa kanilang Barangay na
aabot sa 65 bilang ng mga tao.
Noong Pebrero 14, 2013, may apat na Senior
Health Volunteer ay tinulungan ng Mobile Blood Donation na inorganisa ng Radyo
Trumpeta upang maghatid tulong sa 54 na mga kliyente sa pamamagitan ng blood
pressure taking.
Samantala, noong Pebrero 25 hanggang Marso 10,
2013 naman, ang Chapter Service Representative ay nagsagawa ng post disaster
detailed health assessment sa probinsya ng Davao Oriental na may tatlong
munisipalidad (Baganga, Cateel, Boston) at Agusan del Sur na may apat na
munisipalidad (Trento, Veruela, Santa Josefa at Loreto) na tinamaan ng bagyong
Pablo.
Ang health assessment ay isinagawa upang tukuyin
ang isang action plan na sasaklaw sa agarang pagkilos, short-term actions at

panlalawigan na tuluyan nang maalis ang rabies sa probinsya,” ayon kay Dr.
