DTI to celebrate 32nd anniversary

BUTUAN CITY, July 26 (PIA) -- In celebration of the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) 32nd anniversary on July 27, the DTI-Caraga Regional office and its provincial offices have lined up several activities for the milestone.

The DTI provincial office in Agusan del Sur will hold several business development offerings such as investment opportunity seminar on engineered bamboo, skills trainings on coco twine, agsam product development and financial management seminar on July 25 and 26.

The provincial office of Agusan del Norte will postpone its celebration to coincide with the Adlaw Hong Butuan Celebration via a week-long trade fair and exhibits from July 30 to August 2, and the launching and turn-over of Shared Service Facility (SSF) on August 2.

Meantime, the provincial office of Surigao del Norte will have treats for clients on July 29 with free business name (BN) registration fees for the first ten BN registrants, door prizes, flowing coffee as well as a techno demo on Christmas dΓ©cor making.

While, the provincial office of Surigao del Sur has chosen to convene its Provincial Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Council to discuss development needs of SMEs and will give their first ten clients anniversary shirts on July 26.

The regional office, on the other hand, kicked off its celebration through a three-day Diskwento Caravan on July 24 to 26 at the D&V Plaza Grounds, JC Aquino Avenue, this city where basic commodities will be sold at discounted prices to the general public. On July 30, it will also be launching the SME Roving Academy – a continuous learning program for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises to become competitive in the domestic and global markets.

Other offerings on July 26 include, free registration fees for the first 32 applicants for business name registration (barangay scope only), free starter kits [5 fruiting bags of mushroom] for the first 32 clients, free snacks and, massage and beauty treats for walk-in clients while other DTI offices are also offering food treats to their clients, and feeding program for the children-beneficiaries of the Lingap Center, CSWDO-Butuan City spearheaded by the Regional Office Staff.

Created in 1981 as the Ministry of Trade and Industry and later on reorganized as the Department of Trade and Industry, the agency is mandated to serve as the primary coordinative, promotive, regulative and facilitative arm for trade, industry and investment activities in the country.
