PIA Mindanao RDs to visit typhoon-hit areas

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 7 (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) regional directors of Mindanao cluster will visit Tacloban City and its neighboring towns in Leyte to personally convey the Mindanao’s solidarity to the people in Eastern Visayas.

“We, Mindanaoans stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people in the Visayas in this very difficult time,” said Western, Central and Southern Mindanao cluster head and PIA-XI regional director Efren Elbanbuena. Mindanao cluster is composed of the regions IX, X, XI, XII and XIII.

“We have been mobilizing support from our regions. Just recently, we have launched ‘A Tent for A Family’ drive, hopefully, we will bring some tents to our brethren in Tacloban,” said Northern and Northeastern Mindanao cluster head and Caraga regional director Abner Caga.

Caga said they are also set to visit the affected PIA employees in region 8.

“There is also a plan to visit other affected communities in Samar,” said Elbanbuena.

It can be recalled that on Nov. 24, a team composed of personnel from Caraga Region led by Dir. Caga representing all the regions in Mindanao was dispatched to Tacloban City to operationalize the information infrastructure in the region, as the PIA-8 regional office was devastated. They stayed there for almost two weeks. (FEA/PIA-Caraga)
