PIA Team One Mindanao generates inputs,
strategies on its redeployment in Tacloban City
By Jennifer P. Gaitano
TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 15 (PIA) - On its second day of redeployment here, the
Philippine Information Agency's (PIA) Team One Mindanao composed of Regions 9
and 13 (Caraga) conducted an ocular inspection in the major thoroughfares of
the city to generate inputs and strategies to the changes in the situation on
the ground.
PIA Region 9 regional director Noemi Edaga and
the rest of the team who were able to visit the city for the first time saw the
extent of the damages brought about by Typhoon Yolanda.
The team observed that until this time,
residents still continue to clean scattered garbages and debris on the streets
and outside their houses.
Further, the team witnessed the children along
with some adults playing outside their temporary shelter/tents. Some were also
scorching under the heat of the sun selling vegetables and other food items, as
they continue to survive and cope with life. The team was touched by the
optimisim showed by the Taclobanons.
“These people here are so optimistic and
courageous that despite the devastation they can still afford to smile, inspire
others never to lose hope and continue to live for the love of their family,”
expressed Edaga.
Also, while Region 9 crew was conducting the
ocular inspection, the rest of the Caraga crew led by One Mindanao Team Leader
and Caraga regional director Abner Caga, took charge of the camp operations to
include hosting of Power FM’s programs and interviews.
The team
then discussed the highlights of its strategies that will be implemented and
established for PIA Region 8 Regional Office, as well as the extent of help
that the team could provide the Taclobanons.
"We will continue to strenghten our
communication support to PIA Region 8, linkage and networking of partners and
help the Taclobanons in anyway we can," said Caga. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
