DOH on Wheels concludes in Dinagat
By May Ann O. Escobal
BUTUAN CITY, June 21 (PIA) - The towns of San
Jose and Loreto of Dinagat Islands are the last legs for the Kalusugang
Pangkalahatan Roadshow and this will be in June 24 and 26, respectively.
Just like in Sison, Surigao del Norte,
beneficiaries of the above communities will also be given and served with
health information and services on adolescent, maternal and child health, men’s
health and family health involvement, and health for elderly and their rights.
As partner, PopCom Caraga will be facilitating
sessions for two groups. For men, the Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at
Obligasyon sa Pamilya (KATROPA) session shall be facilitated by POPCOM to
contribute in improving maternal, neonatal and child health and nutrition
(MNCHN) conditions among families in Dinagat Islands. Meanwhile, a U4U session
to the young people will also be facilitated to promote healthy lifestyle and
sexuality and assist the youth to avoid too early sexual engagement, teenage
pregnancies, early marriages, sexually transmitted infections and other
psycho-social concerns.
PopCom Caraga regional director Alexander A.
Makinano, pointed-out the importance of the sessions for these will help men to
become advocates of the MNCHN program, thus, contributing to the goal of
promoting responsible parenting and reducing maternal deaths. Likewise, young
people will become more equipped with life skills on sexuality such as thinking
critically, making good decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
Another highlight of this very momentous event
is the Cheer Dance Competition with the theme “Delay Sex Debut.”
The DOH on Wheels: Kalusugang Pangkalahatan
