DOLE-Caraga implements SPF
BUTUAN CITY, July 26 (PIA) – The Department of
Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga has been implementing its Special Project
Fund (SPF) in support of the administration’s thrust to reduce poverty thru
massive job generation.
The department has P31.5-M budget in Caraga
region through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced
Worker (TUPAD) and Government Internship Program (GIP) which are the only two
components in the said program.
Each district has a P3.5-M allocation for its
implementation, provided that they conform and submit a proposal and work plan
to fund their identified beneficiaries.
On June 24, 2014, 37 interns were officially
hired (27 from local government units and 17 from COOP NATCO) in the
municipality of Socorro, Surigao del Norte.
Iris C. Asis of DOLE-Caraga oriented the interns
on the profiling of the vulnerable workers within the area.
The GIP interns will be working for a three
month period. When surveying and consolidation of data are done, they will
serve as clerks in their assigned offices.
According to Deonita G. Sangco, Philippine
Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager in Socorro, they have already reached
seven barangays namely: Sangkoy, Sulog, Sudlon, Nueva Estrella, Navarro, Taruc
and Rizal with 719 households and 1,498 household workers.
“We are still in the process of consolidating
and encoding the data” Sangco said.
As of June 2014, there are 1,236 GIP interns and
518 TUPAD beneficiaries in Caraga accommodated.
Numerous beneficiaries sent thank you letters
for the opportunities given thru the SPF program. (ICA/DOLE-13/PIA-Caraga)
