BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 30 (PIA) - The Department of
Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office
13 has released a total of P 168.5 Million that financed seven farm-to-market
(FMR) projects in the region in 2013 under the PAMANA Program.
The PAMANA (Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan) is
the program of the national government that extends development intervention to
isolated, hard-to-reach and conflict affected communities, ensuring they are
not left behind.
Municipalities covered are Remedios T. Rumualdes
(RTR), Esperanza, Bunawan, La Paz, Madrid, Lanuza and Barobo with a total
project length of 21.5 kilometers.
DA-13 PAMANA focal person Lynn PareΓ±as said that
the DA plays a big role in food sufficiency and the construction of FMR in the
identified areas will increase the speed of their production.
"FMR is very important to help farmers
transfer their goods and products to the nearest outlet," PareΓ±as added.
At the recently conducted PAMANA Quarterly
assessment, DA-OIC regional technical director for Research and Regulations
Nicandro M. Navia said that PAMANA’s accomplishment boosted the over-all
achievement of Da-13 for the 2nd quarter of the year. He then urged the participating LGU’s to keep
close coordination with the DA for the successful implementation of the projects.
On the other hand, proponents of the projects
that have yet to start its implementation were urged to fast track submission
of necessary requirements to put the projects in place.
This year, DA will continue to implement P 323,175,000M
worth of FMR projects approved under the PAMANA Program with corresponding
seven projects. (DA-13/PIA-Caraga)
