IPHO keeps toilet bowl project going in SurSur
By Greg Tataro Jr.
TANDAG CITY, Nov. 23 (PIA) – The Integrated
Provincial Health Office (IPHO) in Surigao del Sur has continued to offer
“toilet bowls” for free.
According to Dr. Algerico Irizari, IPHO chief, the
provincial government through Governor Johnny Pimentel, has allocated funds for
its production using a “toilet bowl molder.”
He said that they have started the project
sometime a year ago and have already distributed over a thousand toilet bowls
so far, mostly in the hinterland barangays.
Also, the good doctor observed that there are
indeed barangay officials who really have the initiative to, at least, tap
their office for help.
Irizari pointed out that such project is part of
their promotional campaign for environmental sanitation, attributing the idea
to Rodrigo Gordo, IPHO sanitary inspector.
There are still households in Surigao del Sur,
which do not have “water-sealed” toilets, Dr. Irizari bared. (NGBT/Radyo ng
