It is moving Westward slowly. Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands and Camiguin Island will have rains with gusty winds due to TD Wilma. Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains with at times intense rains. Minimal to minor threat to life and property due to strong winds. While the rest Northern Mindanao, the rest of Caraga, and Zamboanga Peninsula will have Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to TD Wilma. Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. The rest of Mindanao will have Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized Thunderstorms. Moderate to Strong winds from Northeast to Northwest will prevail over the western sections of Mindanao with moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 2.8 meters). Elsewhere, moderate to strong winds from the Northwest to Southwest with moderate to rough seas (1.2 to 2.5 meters). SurSur NCIP cites gains in early 2015 Accomplishment Report

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, June 14 (PIA) – Engr. Charlyn Binghoy, provincial officer of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in Surigao del Sur has claimed success in the first five months of this year, particularly for the period January-May 2015.

Citing four major final outputs (MFOs)—Indigenous Peoples & Cultural Communities National Development Policy Services; Ancestral Land & Domain Titling Services; Human and Economic Development Services; and Indigenous Peoples Rights Protected and Promoted—activities under each one have been indicated.

She pointed out in particular the “Establishment of Data Base on IP population has been underway since April 29, target date to finish is on July 15, 2015; Establishment of  Project Control, Social Preparation Activity, and Pre-planning Activity to Preparation and Finalization of the Social Preparation of Activity Reports (SPAR); Assistance to Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) Formulation of Manobo ICC of Rajah Cabungsoan in Lingig town; and Implementation of AO # 1 Series of 2009  or Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representation (IPMR).”

DAR AgNor’s institutional capacity building efforts reaches 123%

BUTUAN CITY, June 14 (PIA) - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Agusan del Norte revealed recently that it has already surpassed its target for the first semester of this year to 123 percent and is now focusing the remaining trainings targeted for second semester to be finished earlier in October.

DAR training facilitator Juanita B. Balibay said that an estimated 20 Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Ogranizations (ARBOs) in the province will have the opportunity to be trained by DAR in the month of June.

The series of institutional capacity building help improve the performance and operation of agrarian organizations in the province leading to financial, managerial, and technical sustainability.

“We advocate to strengthen the ARBOs through the Institutional Capacity Building program extended to 4,612 Agrarian Reform Beneficiariesm," said DAR Agusan del Norte Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit officer-in-charge Annelyn R. Chan.

"This is one of DAR’s vision to empower ARBs for a delivery of quality services and come-up a great impact on the DAR’s Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP),” Chan added.


The ARBOs strengthening program is a special project of the government thru Sec. Virgilio Delos Reyes who has been supportive to empower the ARBOs to organize themselves into a cohesive organizations. (DAR-Agusan del Norte/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
