Canlanipa Central Elem School wins Bonok-Bonok
Maradjaw Karadjaw Festival 2015 street dance competition
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, Sept. 11 (PIA) -
The contingent of Canlanipa Central Elementary School (CCES) won this year's
Bonok-Bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw Festival best in street dancing competition held
on September 9, this city.
CCES bested 13 other contingents, bringing home a
cash prize P100,000 plus trophy.
The special awards for Best in Choreography went
to Hiyas Kabataan Performing Arts of barangay San Juan, while Best in Costume
went to Capalayan National High School both received a cash prize worth P30,000
each.
Also, the winners in the Best Community Street
Dancers competition are the Surigao City PIlot School, who brought home a total
of P15,000 cash prize as first placer. Second place is the Surigao City Central
Elementary School, while 3rd place is Canlanipa Central Elementary School.

DOH sends 15 units of “portalets” for evacuees in
SurSur

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Sept. 11 (PIA) –
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Janet Garin has sent a team of high-ranking
doctors and other aides and caused the shipment of 15 units of fabricated
collapsible waterless toilet housing for emergency together with 15 pieces of
septic vault, blue drums as well for the use of the evacuees at the Surigao del
Sur Sports Center, this city, on Thursday.
Dr. Gloria Balboa, Health Emergency Management
Bureau (HEMB) director of DOH accompanied by Dr. Cesar Cassion, DOH Caraga
assistant regional director, immediately reported to Governor Johnny Pimentel
and held an assessment meeting at the latter’s office together with the local
health chiefs here, Dr. Helen CaΓ±o, chief, DOH Provincial Health Team (PHT)
office and Dr. Eric Montesclaros, OIC, Provincial Health Office (PHO).
Everything concerning the “point of care” for the
evacuees, now numbering at more than three 3,000, was discussed.
Pimentel said everything had to be under control,
also instructing Dr. Montesclaros to verify reports of cases of sore eyes and
chicken pox.
Besides, the governor wanted to make sure the
safety and well-being of 89 pregnant women, nine of them were said to be
“expectant mothers” anytime soon.
The arrival of HEMB team was in response to SILG
Mar Roxas’ call to Secretary Garin for more health care assistance when he saw
firsthand the situation at Surigao del Sur Sports Center where thousands of
evacuees had been taking shelter.
The DILG chief flew in to Tandag, being the
keynote speaker during the opening program on Tuesday, for city’s 393rd Fiesta
