SurSur DepEd set for 19th Caraga Regional Athletic
Meet
By Greg Tataro Jr.
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Feb. 01 (PIA) –
The Department of Education (DepEd) Division Office here is all geared up for
the upcoming 19th Caraga Regional Athletic Meet (CRAM) at the Poly Sports
Complex in Butuan City on February 4-9, 2016.
In an invitation letter dated January 18, 2016,
schools division superintendent Dr. Marilou Dedumo told Governor Johnny
Pimentel that “Surigao del Sur Division will be sending a strong delegation
composed of 765 athletes, coaches, chaperons, officiating and delegation
officials to participate in the said sports competition.”
Earlier, in a brief conversation, Dr. Dedumo
admitted athletes here had undergone training in Hinatuan. Unlike before, Surigao del Sur Sports Center
in Tandag City had always been the practice hub.
Since September 1, 2015, the said sports arena
here had remained the temporary home to most evacuees coming from the
indigenous communities in the vicinity of Sitio Han-ayan, Barangay Diatagon,
Lianga town after the infamous lumad slay.
Nobody knows when the evacuees are going back to
their respective abodes; but the demands that were set have yet to be met for
them to leave the place.
On the same invitation, apart from seeking the
“all out support” for the provincial delegation, Dr. Dedumo requested Governor
Pimentel “to join the Opening Program of the said prestigious occasion as
Honorary Official on February 4, 2016.”
For the past two consecutive years—2014 and 2015,
Surigao del Sur had been “host of the 17th and 18th Caraga Regional Athletic
Meet,” the DepEd provincial chief cited. (NGBT/Radyo ng

DOH-PHT in SurSur sees feat to hit higher thru
mopping up operation for National School Deworming
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Feb. 01 (PIA) –
After a “mopping up operation” schedule to be carried out this first week of
February, the Provincial Health Team (PHT) office under the Department of
Health (DOH) in Surigao del Sur has envisioned a better result for the second
round of the National School Deworming day conducted last January 27, 2016.
The PHT headed by Dr. Helen CaΓ±o has to go back to
some multi-grade public schools to do the same since teachers during that time
were out on a training-seminar, it was learned.
Meanwhile, the DOH Caraga under Dr. Jose Llacuna,
Jr., regional director, had already come out with the initial accomplishment,
citing 72.62 percent region-wide.
For Surigao del Sur, Bislig City, and Tandag City
DepEd divisions, the percentages of accomplishment were posted at 80.54; 90.86;
and 50.62, respectively.
However, the breakdown per province was reported
as follows: Agusan del Norte—75.08 percent; Agusan del Sur—80.22 percent;
Surigao del Norte—55.87 percent; Surigao
del Sur—79.34 percent; and Dinagat Islands—47.68 percent.
Except for a single case of “erratic worm migration,”
no adverse event following the deworming had been noted.
On related development, Harmonized Mass Drug
Administration (HMDA) also came out a success for two pilot barangays in Bislig
City—Cumawas and San Isidro. School
children were said to have been given the combined drugs of Albendazole and
Praziquantel, both anthelmintic or anti-worm medication.
Jointly held with the DepEd, the National School
Deworming program is aimed at treating kinder up to Grade 6 school children
from worm infestation. (NGBT/Radyo ng Bayan-Tandag/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
China.
Sa ginanap na multi-sectoral forum on the West
Nations Conventions on the Laws of the Seas o UNCLOS, bawat coastal state o
territorial sea, contiguous zone, exclusive economic zone at continental shelf.
