Butuanons to participate in tree planting activity in Taguibo Watershed area

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY, June 15 (PIA) – As part of the month-long observance of the Environment Month this year, Butuanons composed of government employees, academe, civil society organizations, and other partner stakeholders will be participating in the tree planting activity on June 24 at Taguibo Watershed area, Barangay Pianing, this city.

Said activity is spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Caraga. This is also in time with the commemoration of this year’s Arbor Day celebration.

DENR-Caraga regional director Nonito Tamayo said it is part of the participants’ shared responsibility to plant ten trees per year as mandated under Executive Order No. 26, thus there will be ten or more personnel per agency organization to participate on June 24.

“We enjoined our planters to bring digging materials such as bolos, shovel or clamshell digger for your convenience since planters will be the one to dig the hole where the seedlings will be planted,” added Tamayo.

It was also learned that assembly time is 5:00 a.m. at the Shell Gasoline Station in Barangay Tiniwisan, this city. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
