DTI AgNor to destroy seized 'substandard' products

BUTUAN CITY, July 14 (PIA) – The Department of
Trade of Industry (DTI) Butuan City/Agusan del Norte Provincial Office –
Consumer Welfare Division will spearhead a destruction of confiscated
non-conforming products forfeited in favor of DTI.
According to provincial director Gay A. Tidalgo,
the products to be destructed violate the Product Standards Law or Republic Act
No. 4109 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (DAO 2, Series of 2007) as
contained in the decisions rendered by the Adjudication Officer.
The non-conforming products to be destroyed are
plywood, Christmas lights, outlets, switches, DVD players, electric irons,
extension wires, stand fans, desk fans, rice cookers, monobloc chairs,
lighters, CFLs, helmets, receptacle, and others, said director Tidalgo.
The destruction will be held on July 20, 1:00 p.m.

Surigao Norte women micro entrepreneurs join entrep
and customer service seminar

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, July 14 (PIA) - A
total of 27 women entrepreneurs in the city joined the Entrepreneurship cum
Customer Relationship Management Seminar
(SMERA) on July 1, 2016 held at the Training Room of City Negosyo Center, DTI Surigao del Norte
provincial office here.

L. Negapatan said that the one-day activity aims to capacitate the women
participants with the basic knowledge in entrepreneurship as well as radically
upgrade their current customer standards.
He explained that SMERA is a continuous learning
program that equips micro, small and medium enterprise with knowledge, skills
and capabilities to become more competitive in the domestic and global markets.
“This activity forms part of our continued support
for existing and aspiring entrepreneurs and our efforts in addressing the call
of the government for inclusive growth and poverty reduction by providing
opportunities for learning to various sectors like women, youth, farmers,

Over 10,000 drug personalities surrender to Caraga

BUTUAN CITY, July 14 (PIA) - More than 10,000 individuals
involved in illegal drug activities have surrendered to the police since the
implementation of Project Tokhang in Caraga last July 1, 2016.
In a monitoring of the Regional Tactical Operations
Center, a total of 10,649 drug personalities comprised of 2,491 from Agusan del
Norte; 2,340 from Agusan del Sur; 1,212 from Butuan City; 146 from Dinagat
Islands; 1,811 from Surigao del Norte; and 2,649 from Surigao del Sur turned
themselves in to authorities.

Rolando Felix said the surrendered persons are turned over to the local
government units and will be monitored by the police.
Project Tokhang, a massive campaign to convince
those involved in illegal drugs to reform, is the first phase under Project
Double Barrel which was implemented nationwide last July 1, 2016.
The second phase of Project Double Barrel is
Project HVT/LVT which focuses on the conduct of police operations against the
high value or low value targets.
From July 1 to July 13, a total of 76 suspects were
arrested and three drug personalities were killed during the conduct of police
operations.

collective efforts and strengthened partnerships among the PNP, LGU, community,

Rebels torch container van's gen set in San Agustin
town

SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur, July 14 (PIA) –
Around 15 fully armed men reportedly flagged down and burned the generator set
of a container van owned by Rosendo Casino while traversing the national
highway in Barangay Salvacion here on Wednesday, July 13.
Initial report from the Police Provincial Police
(PPO) revealed that the said container van was loaded with bananas from the
DOLE warehouse in Tabon-tabon, Tago town heading for Davao City. While
traversing the said place, the said container van was flagged down by the fully
armed men who introduced themselves as members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
The rebels accordingly instructed the driver to
separate the tractor head and park along the center of the national highway.
Few minutes after, the suspects reportedly fled to
the mountainous area of Purok 6, Barangay Salvacion, while the San Agustin Fire
Station personnel arrived and declared fire out around 1:00 p.m. on the same
day.
The Police Provincial Saftey Company based in
Tagmalinao, Cagwait and the Philippine Army immediately conducted hot pursuit

DTI set to launch mariculture platforms in Surigao
City

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, July 14 (PIA) -
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Surigao del Norte is set to launch
its shared service facilities (SFF) dubbed “Mobile Mariculture Platforms” (MMP)
here on August 3, 2016, 2015 at the city mariculture park in barangay Nabago.
DTI provincial director Celestino Negapatan bared
that the project will provide five pilot mobile mariculture platforms of
Norwegian type fish cages that can accommodate 20,000 bangus fingerlings to
about 150 4Ps beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development
(DSWD).
He said MMP project is one of the promising
convergence undertakings where DTI committed to provide the said cages, the
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for the technical support, DSWD for
the feeds and fingerlings, and the city government on the cage nets and
security in the area.
Negapatan, further said that the project is
expected to harvest approximately 50 metric tons of milkfish (bangus) after six

Police burn P36 million worth of marijuana in
Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, July 14 (PIA) - The Police Regional
Office (PRO) 13 recently burned uprooted marijuana plants and stalks worth
about P36,193,500 at the quarry site in barangay Bonbon, this city on Thursday.
PRO 13 regional director PCSupt. Rolando Felix
spearheaded the activity together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency
13, local government unit, and media personalities.
The marijuana stalks and plants were recovered from
the towns of Loreto and La Paz, Agusan del Sur during the intensified campaign
of Caraga police force.
In his message, PCSupt. Felix lauded the support of
the local government units and the community which contributed to the success.

implementation of Project Double Barrel, an all-out anti-illegal drug campaign
