Caraga starts evaluation of Reg’l Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar for CY
2016

BUTUAN
CITY, May 24 (PIA) – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga through the
Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) will be conducting the annual Search
for Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) from May to June
2017 in the different cities and provinces of the region.
According
to DOH Caraga regional director and NNC Caraga RNP coordinator Dr. Jose Llacuna
Jr., the evaluation shall cover assessment of skills of the BNS in coordinating
the Barangay Nutrition Program to various sectors at the grassroots level,
efficiency in the delivery of nutrition services, initiatives in resource
generation activities, skills in nutrition assessment, maintenance of updated
records and timeliness of submission of nutrition reports, among others.
“The
mechanics of the evaluation shall consist of desk review of Barangay Nutrition
Documents of calendar year 2016. The OBNS will also undergo a written
examination which will be administered by the evaluators,” added Llacuna.
The
following are the evaluation schedule for the ROBNS: Cabadbaran City – May 9;
Tandag City – May 10; Surigao del Norte – May 15-17; Surigao City – May 18;
Surigao del Sur (with monitoring and evaluation of local level plan
implementation); Agusan del Norte – June 5; written examination of ROBNS
contenders in Butuan City – June 6; Agusan del Sur – June 7; Butuan City – June

Caraga to hold Reg’l Dissemination Forum on 2014 ASPBI, STEP

BUTUAN
CITY, MAY 24 (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Caraga will be
holding the Regional Data Dissemination Forum for 2014 annual survey on
Philippines Business and Industry (ASPBI) and 2014 survey on Tourism
Establishments in the Philippines (STEP) on May 30, 2017 at Big Daddy’s Hotel
and Convention Center, this city.
“The
objective of this forum is to raise awareness of the stakeholders and data
users on the importance of the data generated from ASPBI ans STEP in planning,
policy-making, business and research,” bared PSA Caraga regional director
Rosalinda Celeste-Apura.
Apura
added that said activity will be participated by the regional line agencies,
academe, local government units and representatives from various

NC-San
Francisco conducts learning session on entrepreneurship to 'One Puhunan'
borrowers

FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur, May 24 – “We’ve learned a lot from the session on
entrepreneurship conducted by Negosyo Center here.”
This
was the statement of Marivic Pabi of the Learning Session on Entrepreneurship
conducted by Negosyo Center (NC)-San Francisco.
Pabi
was one of the 34 One Puhunan micro-enterprise borrowers who joined the
activity, which aimed to develop their awareness on the importance of shifting
paradigm (livelihood and hobby to entrepreneurship).
NC-San
Francisco business counselors Aldrin Abapo and Marianne Togonon facilitated the
learning session.
As
a follow-through, some participants have signified and scheduled a one-on-one
consultation with the NC business counselors to further improve their products
and get advice on packaging and labelling.
The
seminar was conducted at the One Puhunan San Francisco branch, Barangay 4, San
Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
This
type of partnership will be pursued by all other Agusan del Sur Negosyo Centers
with other microfinancing institutions who need help in providing non-financial
services such as financial literacy and other business advisory services to
their borrowers. This is to help ensure that money borrowed for business will
surely be used to grow their business.

OWWA
conducts 3 sessions of EDLP phase 1

CITY, May 24 - The Overseas Workers
Welfare Administration (OWWA), in partnership with the Department of Trade and
Industry (DTI) and Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), conducted three sessions
of Phase 1 Enterprise Development and Loan Program (EDLP) to Overseas Filipino
Workers (OFW) on May 5, 2017 in Agusan del Sur; on May 17, 2017 in the Province
of Dinagat Islands and another one on May 22 at OWWA Regional Office, this
city.
OWWA
currently implements the Enterprise Development and Loan Program, formerly
known as 2 Billion OFW-Reintegration Program, under its Family Support and
Reintegration Services, a loan facility which is intended to support enterprise
development among OFWs and their families.
“This
program aims to provide assistance among active and returning OFWs in order to
improve their socio-economic well-being and their reintegration in the
mainstream society and aid them in starting off and expanding income generating
livelihood which promotes productivity and self-reliance,” bared Jean Mary
Ronquillo-Ladion, OWWO II and in-charge of the EDLP.
With
its revamped design, the agency made sure that the orientation will be easily
accessible to the interested OFWs through its mobilization. The first of the
three was conducted at Brgy. 5, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur with 56 attendees
from around the province, while 23 OFWs and dependents from the provinces of
Dinagat, San Jose and Cagdianao joined during the phase 1 of EDLP held at DTI
Negosyo Center in the Province of Dinagat Island. To cater to the OFWs living
in Agusan del Norte and those who failed to attend in the previous sessions,
another orientation was held at OWWA Training Hall at the Regional Office with
66 loan applicants from all over Caraga.
The
first phase of EDLP includes program orientation, financial literacy and
personal entrepreneurial assessment. The phase intends to present and clarify
among the participants the program scheme and availment procedure.
OFW
loan applicants must complete a Program Orientation and Business Appreciation
Course, an Enhanced Entrepreneurship Development Training (EEDT) conducted by
the agency alongside DTI and LBP. After completing phase 1, interested
applicants will then undergo an Entrepreneurship Training and Business
Immersion and Business Plan Workshop.
The
enhanced loan facility provides a minimum of P100,000 and a maximum of
P2,000,000 for individual borrowers and from P100,000 to P5,000,000 for group
loan borrowers at an annual interest of 7.5 percent for the entire duration of
