Caraga lupons shortlisted as 2019 LTIA national
finalists

BUTUAN CITY, July 26 -- Lupons of
Caraga Region victoriously grabbed two out of the four categories of the Lupong
Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) for Calendar Year 2019.
The Lupons of Barangay Doongan,
Butuan City and Barangay Telaje, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur were shortlisted
by the National Board of Judges (NBOJ) as the 2019 LTIA National Finalists for
highly urbanized cities and component cities categories, respectively.
The validation team composed of
the LTIA NBOJ and LTIA secretariat conducted an on-site validation to these
Lupons on July 15-17, 2019.
The team scrutinized the Lupon
documents, performance, accomplishments, and innovations based on the criteria
stipulated in Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum
Circular No. 2016-58 dated April 29, 2016 titled ”Reiterating and Supplementing
DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2008-102 dated June 17, 2008 relative to the
Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards Enhanced Criteria and Guidelines”.
Specifically, they looked into the
following: a) Efficiency in Lupon operations; b) Effectiveness in securing the
settlement of interpersonal dispute objective of the Katarungang Pambarangay
(KP); c) Creativity and resourcefulness of the Lupong Tagapamayapa; d) Area or
facility for KP activities; and e) Financial or non-financial support provided
by the government, non-government organizations, and private individuals.
Each of the National Awardee Lupon
shall be conferred with a presidential trophy, while each of the National
runners-up Lupon shall be conferred with a plaque of recognition.
Moreover, each of the finalists in every
category could possibly win the prize amounting to P300,000 for the outstanding
Lupong Tagapamayapa (National Awardee); P150,000 for the first runners-up; and
P100,000 for the second runners-up. These prizes are to be utilized for Lupon related
programs, projects and activities.
Further, the Lupong Tagapamayapa
Incentives Awards was established in 1997 as a mean to institutionalize a
system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to the Lupong
Tagapamayapa that demonstrates exemplary performance in settling disputes at the
grassroots level pursuant to Republic Act 7160 otherwise known as the Local
Government Code of 1991.
The award has four categories,
namely Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in Highly Urbanized Cities; Outstanding
Lupong Tagapamayapa in Component Cities Category; Outstanding Lupong
Tagapamayapa in 1st to 3rd Class Municipalities Category; and Outstanding
Lupong Tagapamayapa in 4th to 6th Class Municipalities Category.
The announcement of winners and
awarding ceremony for the 2019 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards will be

PWDs sa Agusan del Norte aktibong nakilahok sa Paralympics

LUNGSOD NG BUTUAN, Hulyo 26 (PIA) - Sa kabila ng kalagayan, hindi naging hadlang sa mga kababayang Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) sa Agusan del Norte na ipakita ang kanilang galing sa iba’t-ibang sports sa idinaos na paralympics dito sa lungsod.
Masayang nakilahok ang ilan sa kanila sa volleyball tournament (men and women); basketball; bowling at dart.
Isa si Gina Narvasa, 46 na taong gulang mula sa bayan ng Carmen, Agusan del Norte sa mga hindi nag-alinlangan sa pagsali sa volleyball kasama ang iba pang kababaihang PWDs.
Ayon sa kanya, nahirapan man siya sa laro, lubos naman ang kasiyahang naidulot nito sa kanya at sa iba pa niyang mga kasama.
“Masaya ang paglalaro namin. Akala ko di kami pwedeng sumali sa mga sports dahil sa kapansanan namin, pero pwede pala. Nakakatuwa,” sabi ni Narvasa.
Ito rin ang ipinakita ni Gabby Amodia, PWD Federated President ng Buenavista, Agusan del Norte na aktibong nakilahok sa larong bowling. Masaya siyang naipakita niya sa publiko ang kanyang abilidad sa kabila ng kanyang kapansanan.
Pinuri at ipinagmalaki naman ni Silver Joy Tejano, Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) officer sa Agusan del Norte ang lahat ng sumuporta at lumahok sa Paralympics. Umaasa siyang makilala sa buong bansa ang kakayahan at galing ng PWDs sa Caraga region at mapabilang rin sa Southeast Asian Games.
"Sana yung ibang PWDs sa ibat-ibang probinsya ng Caraga ay lumahok din sa ganitong aktibidad upang maipakita din sa iba ang kanilang kakayanan, maging ang kanilang mga talento. Handa naman ang gobyerno na tumulong sa kanila at nang maibigay ang kanilang kinakailangan," sabi ni Tejano.
Ang isinagawang Paralympics ay bahagi rin ng mga aktibidad sa probinsya sa selebrasyon ng National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week ngayong buwan ng Hulyo. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
