Hangad: An Online
Art Exhibit
The Covid 19 virus
has criples the world's economic activities, places mankind's health in
jeopardy and made untimely death to many. To address the pandemic problem,
people around the world are forced to stay at home if only to help flatten the
curve, but sadly, it stiples one's freedom of movements, thus, making it
difficult for anyone to be productive.
Unmindful of the
human setback, three creative individuals: Goy Candelario, Celso Pepito, and
Ronnie Rudinas have bond together to come up with an online art exhibit
entitled: HANGAD.
Goy and Ronnie are members of Kwadrado group which is based in Butuan City. Celso Pepito is a member and one of the founders of Cebu Artists Incorporated, a Cebu base artists group, founded in 1994.
Hangad in Visayan term means to look up to, to hope for, to aspire for something, to desire for or to dream for something.
The group has opted to address the covid 19 challenge with a simple understanding that in time like this, we can still manage to aspire for something positive, dream of contributing something for the better good and hope to be productive, beyond covid.
Hangad, is also an exhibit that gives realization for the three artists to come up with a collaborative exhibit, like this, manifesting each one's admiration and respect, using Cubism as a unified style, understanding that even in a fragmatic society, where everyone had its own opinion, unity in direction can still be achieved. This event is also their means of contributing financial aid to the Covid 19 Frontliners as the group have agreed to share 50 percent of the online art exhibit proceeds.
Above all, the group look up to God as the ultimate solution to this pandemic, believing that no amount of human activities can compensate what God can do.
