(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Saturday, 19 July 2025) As of 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CRISING” was located at 530 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Depression Crising is currently affecting Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the rest of Mindanao. Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD Crising. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rainfall. Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be moderate from the southwest to west, with moderate seas (wave height: 1.2 to 2.5 meters).

SurSur holds DRRM orientation to newly-hired LDRRM staff, partners

SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur (PIA) – The provincial government of Surigao del Sur through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is holding a two-day Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Orientation held at the La Entrada Resort and Restaurant, Britania, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on July 22-23, 2021.

The said activity was aimed to enhance the knowledge of each participant on DRRM and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA).

“This orientation seeks to widen and enhance the knowledge of the participants on the DRRM and CCA concepts,” PDRRMO chief Abel de Guzman said.

De Guzman said the activity was divided into two batches with participants from the Northern-tip municipality of Carrascal up to the Southern-tip municipality of Lingig to meet the required minimum health protocol. They are targeting 55 participants per session.

For the day-1, the participants are the newly-hired local DRRM office staff, while on the day-2, it will be participated by the volunteers and partners. 

The activity was previously scheduled last June, but due to the declaration of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in the entire province, it was postponed to a later date. (PIA-Surigao del Sur)
