Tandag City joins 47th Nutrition Month celebration

TANDAG CITY, Surigao
del Sur (PIA) – The city government here through the City Nutrition Office
successfully conducted the virtual forum on the First 1,000 days of life in
time with the 47th Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme,
"Malnutrition Patuloy Na Labanan, First 1000 Days Tutukan" on Friday,
July 2, 2021.
Tandag City
Nutrition Office chief Reyveen john Geli said the said forum was highlighted
with the launching of the dietary supplementation for pregnant women and salt
iodization.
During the forum,
the discussion focused on the importance of health and nutrition during the 1st
1000 days of life and the vital role of iodine in the body, especially during
pregnancy.
Identified pregnant
women from Barangay Awasian have received the dietary supplements (Nutri-paks
for pregnant mom) and a pack of iodized salt.
City Councilor John
Paul C. Pimentel representing City Nutrition Committee Chairperson Mayor
Roxanne Pimentel said the city government is committed to address all forms of
malnutrition in the city and vowed to support the 1st 1000 days of life program.
Retsebeth Manuel
Laquihon, CNC Caraga Nutrition Program Coordinator, commended the city
government through the Tandag City Nutrition Office and the members of the
Local Nutrition Committee for scaling up the nutrition program through the
formulation of the Local Nutrition Action Plan. It included the nutrition
budget, issued nutrition-related policies, nutrition program implementation,
and monitoring and evaluation.
The event was participated
by the members of the Barangay and City Nutrition Committee, Provincial
Nutrition Office employees, Nutrition Program implementers, and the National
