NPA member surrenders in SurSur town
SAN
MIGUEL, Surigao del Sur -- Another member of the New People’s Army (NPA)
surrendered to the 75th Infantry “Marauder” Battalion (75IB), Philippine Army
on Sunday, July 11, 2021.

He
narrated that he did not understand their situation, as he cited the
experienced they have while living with the terrorist group.
"Gikapoy
na gyud kami ug maayo sa akong kauban ug dili na kami makasabot sa among
kahimtang labi na sa nahitabo kanamo nga sige na lang kami huna-huna ug
kahadlok (we are really tired with my company and we could no longer understand
our situation especially of what happened to us, that we just kept thinking in
fear)," the surrenderee narrated in a local vernacular.
“Gusto na
nako makauban akong ginikanan ug magpuyo nga malinawon (I want to be with my
parents and live peacefully),” AKA Rose further said.
Lt. Col.
Jelso Buyuccan, Commanding Officer of 75IB, emphasized the importance of the
concerted efforts between the government and the stakeholders against
insurgency in the province.
"With
the concerted effort of our troops, government, and other stakeholders,
together we can defeat the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in the province of
Surigao del Sur,” Lt. Col Buyuccan said.
"Rest
assured, the 75th Infantry Battalion as part of the Task Force to End Local
Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC) will always support the government’s
endeavor in eradicating the insurgency for the community to live peacefully,”
Lt Col Buyuccan added.
Meanwhile, AKA Rose will undergo the process for enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the national government. (with a report from 75IB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
