Caraga council for disability affairs readies activities for 2021 NDPR week

BUTUAN CITY – During a special meeting of the Regional Council for Disability Affairs (RCDA) Caraga, the members from various government agencies and local government units had finalized the activities set for this year’s 43rd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 17-23.

The RCDA enjoins different sectors in Caraga region to hang the NDPR tarpaulin on July 16 at their respective agencies/offices as their way of support and recognition to the persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The PWDs, together with the members of RCDA will be celebrating the kick-off thru a Thanksgiving Mass on July 19, 2021. A short program will follow in the afternoon of same day via online platform.

On July 22, 2021, the PWD focal persons from the different local government units, PWDs and Person with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) will join in the webinar sessions: Communication Disorder and Motor Disability; Early Detection and Prevention; and Disability Inclusive Recovery: Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Programs for PWDs.

A webinar dubbed “Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office: Its Establishment and Functionality is scheduled on July 23, 2021 to be spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Also, on July 23, the RCDA will hold the virtual culmination activity thru the conduct of the following: Awarding of winners, Presentation of RCDA accomplishments, and Showcasing of PWD success stories.

The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) is also set to hold the Capacity Building on Leadership and Management for Persons with Disability Federation on July 28, while the Department of Health (DOH) and Butuan City Health Office will lead the Training Session with the local Program Handlers and Service Providers in Handling Children with Disabilities on July 28, 2021.

Proclamation No. 361, declares the third week of July as the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week which shall culminate on the birthdate of the sublime paralytic: Apolinario Mabini on July 23 each year. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
