AgSur LGU promotes rubber production

BUTUAN CITY – The local government unit (LGU) of La Paz in Agusan del Sur promotes rubber production as part of their effort in helping local farmers in the municipality.

During the Network Briefing News hosted by Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), Mayor Michael Lim highlighted that the LGU is working on the development of the rubber industry. 

“In the province, one municipality is assigned one craft. So here in La Paz, we were assigned to rubber which we are developing since last year. We built a nursery so we can distribute it to our farmers in the municipality,” said Lim.

Lim added that buyers of rubber usually come from Cotabato, Davao, Cagayan, Surigao. “We also want to have a rubber processing plant here because we have plenty of supply. Apart from that, we also plant cacao, banana, corn, and rice here,” he said. 

La Paz is a municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur in Caraga region. The population was 28,217 at the 2015 census. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of 1,481.12 square kilometers (571.86 sq mi)constituting 14.83% of the 9,989.52-square-kilometre- (3,856.98 sq mi) total area of Agusan del Sur.
