LGU-Claver releases aid to ASF-affected hog raisers

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- The local government unit of Claver releases indemnity assistance worth P1,108,000 to 40 local hog raisers on August 4, 2021.

The said aid was distributed in order to compensate for the income loss caused by the depopulation of hogs affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).

The amount of assistance received by farmers ranges from P3,000 to P15,000 depending on the age classification of their hogs affected.

A total of 150 heads of hogs were affected by ASF and depopulated last May and June 2021 from barangays Bagakay, Sapa and Ladgaron, respectively.

The distribution of the said cash assistance was supported by Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Resolution No. 114 which declared the entire municipality under state of calamity due to ASF outbreak. It was complemented by an Executive Order No. 15 series of 2021 which adopted the required procedures and protocols in lieu of preventing the spread of ASF in the municipality.
