DOH Caraga says no room for complacency vs Delta variant
BUTUAN CITY – In time with the 19th Regional Vaccination
Operations Center (RVOC) and Response Cluster Meeting via Zoom platform, the
Department of Health (DOH) Caraga warned Caraganons to be more cautious and not
to be complacent even when the region was placed under General Community Quarantine
(GCQ) for the whole month of August.
DOH-Caraga regional director Dr. Cesar
Cassion emphasized that people should not be complacent especially with the
cases recorded on Delta variant. He urged all to intensify public awareness;
practice of health protocols; and conduct of vaccination in the region.
“The Delta variant is rapidly spreading around the world. It appears to
be more transmissible and may be associated with different symptoms. People are
more likely to be hospitalized with the Delta variant,” said Cassion.
Cassion urged the different eligible priority sectors in the different
provinces of the region to avail of the free vaccine from the government and
help achieve the target of at least 70% herd immunity.
“The vaccination is ongoing and we hope those who were among the
priority sectors would have themselves vaccinated for their protection and for
people that surround them,” said Cassion.
He also called on the residents to take all the required doses of a vaccine to build full immunity. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
