MSMEs benefit from livelihood seeding program of DTI
SIRIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The micro entrepreneurs in the province of Surigao del Norte that were greatly affected by the pandemic received assistance from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay.
To date, the DTI - Surigao del Norte has already visited more than 20 barangays in the province and more than 200 MSMEs have benefited from the distributed livelihood kits amounting to P5,000 to P8,000 each.More than
a thousand residents were also trained and have undergone business information
seminars.
“The
program aims to help the micro entrepreneurs in the province for them to
sustain their business as the primary source of livelihood to support their
family,” said Arnold Faelnar, provincial diredctor of DTI-Surigao del Norte.
Various
programs and services of the DTI were presented to the participants during the
recent launching of Livelihood Seeding Program in barangay Poctoy, Surigao
City.
A seminar
on entrepreneurial mindsetting and financial literacy were also conducted.
This initiative is part of the DTI’s mission to promote inclusive growth of MSMEs in the Philippines that uses the grassroots approach to reach the basic unit of the community.
Faelnar said the DTI continues to implement its other programs and encouraged those who intend to start up a business to visit the nearst negosyo center in their area.
“Just visit the nearest Negosyo Center in your locality so you will be assisted in marketing your products by showcasing them during trade fairs and displaying at the OTOP centers. They can also avail of the management, pricing and costing, at entrepreneurship trainings,” he said. (VLG/PIA Surigao del Norte)
