Dagyaw Townhall Meeting set in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – Different government
agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), development partners, academe,
business groups, public sector unions, people’s organizations (POs), and media
will be participating in the Dagyaw TownHall Meeting on November 17, 2021 at
the Pavillion, Watergate, this city.
The event is spearheaded by the
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), together with the
Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and the Department of Budget and
Management (DBM), among other agencies involved.
According to DILG-Caraga regional
director Lilibeth Famacion, Dagyaw aims to build mutual trust between the
government and the Filipino people by providing an open, neutral, and protected
space for dialogue.
This will also be a three activities in
one setting/venue: 1) 2021 Dagyaw Townhall Meeting; 2) 2nd Special
Episode of PIA’s Kapihan with DILG; and 3) CSO Forum on the Full Devolution of
certain functions of the Executive Branch to Local Governments, including the
salient features of the Devolution Transition Plans (DTPs).
“Basically, the Dagyaw 2021 will
provide a platform for citizens and government to hold discussions on local
service in the context of the COVID-19 Recovery Efforts of the country and the
implementation of the Manadanas Ruling,” said Famacion.
Some 40 individuals from various sectors
are expected to attend the event face-to-face while others will join
via Zoom platform. This is in compliance with the imposed health protocols to
ensure the safety of the attendees.
The Persons with Disabilities (PWD)
sector in the Caraga region will also be participating in the 2021 Dagyaw
through the help of a Filipino Sign Language (FSL) interpreter for each
session.
The said event will be streamed live via official Facebook Pages of PIA, DILG and DBM, and other social media platforms available. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
