DA Caraga allots P245M for post-disaster rehabilitation and recovery plan
SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands -- The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Caraga is allocating around PhP245 million worth of interventions to the farmers in the province of Surigao del Norte who were affected by Super Typhoon Odette last December 16, 2021.
DA Caraga regional technical director for operations Rebecca Reyes Atega, during the meeting, presented the rehab and recovery plan for the province emphasizing on a quicker way to recover through production of food staples, cash crops, and free range chicken that could be grown in just 3 to 6 months' time.
“The interventions include production support such as seeds, fertilizers,
poultry stocks, tools and equipment as well as financial assistance
dubbed as 'SURE Aid' through the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Credit
Policy Council (DA-ACPC) and conduit banks,” Atega said.
She added that the said amount is taken from 2021 generated savings, 2022 Quick
Response Fund, 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA), and DA-Mindanao Cluster
