DSWD’s MCCT beneficiaries generates more than a million on their first year
BUTUAN CITY -- “Isang taon, higit isang milyon!”
This is the catchphrase of the Poblacion Modified Conditional Cash Transfer for Indigenous Peoples (MCCT-IP) Association beneficiaries of Lingig, Surigao del Sur as their microfinance lending operation turned a year older on March 4, 2022.
To start the livelihood project, the association was given Php1,000,000 and currently, they have a total revenue of Php6,000,000 released as loans to clients. The beneficiaries had their first income-sharing last December 2021, totaling to Php3,000 per member, garnering the Top 1 Performing Association title in the region.
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Caraga Regional Program Coordinator/Division Chief Crislea Celeste delivered her felicitations to the 112 members of the association during the 1st anniversary celebration.
“One year pa gani, milyon na. Unsa nalang kaha pag-abot sa napulo ka-tuig (It has only been a year and you already have a million pesos. How much more in ten years),” Celeste said.
The association is funded under the Social Services Intervention (SSI) of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), a unique feature of the program given to MCCT beneficiaries.
SSI aims to provide more opportunities for the beneficiaries to strengthen the implementation of MCCT and facilitate improvement in their economic, socio-cultural aspirations and conditions. (Social Marketing Section/DSWD-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
