'Juanas' in the
migrant sector praised by OWWA-13
BUTUAN CITY-- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Caraga recognized Juanas in the migrant sector through the Marilag Awards 2022 conducted on March 16 at Dotties Place, this city.
The Marilag Awards aims to recognize the "natatanging kababaihan" (exemplary women) for their extraordinary role in the migrant sector and other frontline workers from OWWA. This is to also continuously empower fellow women in the society through this inspiring womens.The top award under the Women Entrepreneurs category was given to Cherrylyn Mahilom, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was a recipient of "Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay" under the OWWA Livelihood Program. Another Marilag Award under the OWWAnian frontliners category was given to Jean Mary Ladion.
In her message during the awarding, OIC-Regional Director of OWWA Caraga Ma. Ireen Cambaling said that it is timely to host the Marilag Awards as the agency continues to give recognition to women and their contribution to society, particularly those in the migrant sector.
The Marilag Award was launched in 2019 as part of the Gender and Development initiatives of OWWA, in conjunction with the International Women’s Month. (OWWA-Caraga/MCF/PIA-Caraga)
