DepEd-Siargao fast tracks registration for upcoming school year

BUTUAN CITY -- As the Department of Education (DepEd) Siargao starts its early registration for school Year 2022-2023, the DepEd Siargao Division Office personnel led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nelia Lomocso, with SGOD Chief Dr. Harem Taruc, and EPS/Division Research and Planning Coordinator Glorian Ederosas simultaneously monitored select schools in SDO Siargao, while the rest were taken care of by the respective Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDSs) and assigned Education Program Supervisors (EPSs).

DepEd Siargao Project WinS coordinator Haidy Arciga also accompanied the monitoring team to reinforce the project implementation.

During the said school visit, Taruc commended the joint forces of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers and those in formal education.

“I am happy nga naa pud tay nakita nga mga ALS teachers (I am happy to see ALS teachers). I hope you will encourage more out-of-school-youths to register so we can increase our ALS enrolment,” said Dr. Taruc.

Meanwhile, SDS Lomocso reminded all the teachers, who were present on the first day of early enrolment, that only parents shall be seen in the school premises.

She further clarified that the registration only covers all incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners as students in Grades 2-6, 8-10, and 12 are already considered pre-registered in the school where they are enrolled at.

“If there are minimal enrollees as days go by, please undertake a remote mechanism to increase our enrolment and to accommodate parents with busy schedules at home,” SDS Lomocso said to teachers.

“Don’t forget to conduct child mapping as it would help you get important basic information on the status of children in your community which you can use in school planning specifically in the conduct of your house-to-house enrolment,” Ederosas added.

Ederosas also advised the assigned teachers of the day to check the completeness of the data in the Learner Enrolment and Survey Form (LESF) as it is crucial in encoding the data in the DepEd LIS portal.

“You have to double check the correctness of every detail in the accomplished LESF because the same data will be reflected upon updating the learners’ profile in the LIS,'' EPS Ederosas emphasized.

Schools throughout DepEd Siargao are currently initiating various information drive campaigns to speed up the enrolment progress. (Edgar R. Gorgonio, Jr./DepEd-Siargao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
