POPCOM commits aid to 5th to 6th class LGUs, GIDAs
BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte -- The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) Caraga continues its full implementation of Philippine Population and Development Program for 2022 which includes the provision of logistical and financial support to the 5th to 6th class provinces, municipalities, and cities in the region.
During the recently held online orientation on the Philippine Population and Development (PPDP) Thrusts for CY 2022, POPCOM Caraga Regional Director Alexander Makinano emphasized that the local government units will be mobilized by the commission in assuming the population and development services. POPCOM Caraga will eventually limit its support for family planning services and delivery of commodities to the 5th to 6th class municipalities.
The commission shall also support the LGUs in the following areas: communications, advocacy and partnership building, and monitoring and evaluation of POPDEV programs.
The 5th to 6th class LGUs and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas or GIDAs, will also receive grant for the integration of Responsible Parenthood-Family Planning (RPFP), Adolescent Health and Development (AHD), and the Population and Development Integration (POPDEV) into their respective plans.
Meanwhile, Ricky Namion, chief of the Field Operation and Support Section (FOSS), presented the 2022 targets for the demand generation and referral services of the RPFP to the program partners, while Angelita Antonio, program manager for Adolescent Health and Development, presented the 2022 targets for the said program, focusing on the 5th to 6th class LGUs and GIDAs.
