CAMPCO in SurSur receive P2.7-M refrigerated van from DA-Caraga
CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur – The CarCanMadCarLan Agri-based Multipurpose Cooperative (CAMPCO) received a refrigerated van worth PhP2.7 million from the Department of Agriculture-Caraga on March 7, 2022.
Regional Technical Director Nicandro Navia, Jr. and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) chief Lyn PareΓ±as handed over the key of responsibility to CAMPCO Manager Dr. Christoper Buniel.
The intervention is lodged under the Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita Inclusive Food Supply Chain Program.
According to Dr. Buniel, one of CAMPCO's challenges before is the preservation of the quality of "bangus" (milkfish) in terms of its distribution.
However, with the provision of the refrigerated van, they can now assure the best quality of their products from farm to market.
Dr. Buniel thanked the DA-AMAD and DA- Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) for the interventions they provided for the coop from production to marketing.
“After being granted with a marketing enterprise subproject from DA-PRDP which are the fish cages, DA-AMAD also gave us this Refrigerated Van that we can use to deliver our products,” Buniel said.
The challenge for the preservation of quality for the milkfish products of the CarCanMadCarLan Agri-based Multipurpose Cooperative (CAMPCO) in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur will no longer be an issue.
“I can say that it can really boost and enhance our operation. In terms of employment, we can employ additional people to operate the vehicle," Buniel added. (DA-Caraga/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
