DepEd-Siargao recognizes partners' aid for learning continuity
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- Attended by various public and private stakeholders, the Department of Education-Schools Division Office (DepEd-SDO) of Siargao hosted on April 25, the Pasidungog sa mga Kabulig 2022, a yearly grand tribute accorded to all its valued partners who are instrumental in braving learning continuity amid pandemic and post-Odette challenges.
Present during the awarding ceremony to receive the plaque of appreciation were the officials from the congressional, provincial LGU, along with the municipal mayors of the nine municipalities of Siargao Islands, and other private partners duly represented by their respective authorized representatives.
In the opening message, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nelia S. Lomocso acknowledged the vital contributions of the invited honorees for making education possible even after Super Typhoon Odette massively ravaged the whole islands. She likewise highlighted the importance of synergistic and sustained partnership in overcoming post-Odette challenges.
“I am truly running out of words on how to express my gratitude to all of you, our valued partners, for your unparalleled commitment to driving learning continuity in the island paradise of Siargao. From all of us DepEd Siargao, we thank you for generously extending your services and resources to address the needs of our schools and offices, most especially in the learning continuity of our Siargaonon learners,” Dr. Lomocso said.
“Without your help, our recovery efforts would be near impossible. We need you, people with hearts full of compassion. The help you have extended to us is indeed well appreciated. Ang hirap kaya (It was hard)…the devastation that Super Typhoon Odette has left DepEd Siargao is even beyond imagination,” she added.
The superintendent has also emphasized that the department’s hashtag #BangonDepEdSiargao is coming to a reality knowing the fact that her office has been receiving enormous support from its benefactors and donors.
“We are more than confident that with your continued support, babangon at babangon talaga ang DepEd Siargao (DepEd-Siargao will rise and rise again)," she said.
"To all our benefactors and donors, this is
our simplest way of saying our sincerest 'thank you'. The things that you have
done and the things that you will still be doing in the very near future for
DepEd Siargao will always be cherished in our hearts because this will go a
long way for our desire to give the best possible education for our learners in
the island paradise of Siargao,” Dr. Lomocso added.
Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator and Consultant on Education, Culture and
the Arts Arturo M. Cruje, Governor Lalo Matugas’ authorized representative,
commended DepEd Siargao for initiating the awarding event.
“We greatly appreciate this nice gesture of the Department of Education Siargao
Division in finding time to thank its beneficiaries. We cannot deny the fact
that we live successfully because we are departments; we are not an island, but
a part of a greater continent, our community, and the world,” said Cruje.
“Ever since I joined the provincial government, DepEd has already been our
partner in development and will always be our partner in all our endeavors. Our
success in our Education, Culture, and the Arts programs can be credited to our
partnership with this agency. For the local government unit to be successful in
program implementation is to partner with the champion agency, and we believe
that DepEd is a champion agency,” he added.
Following the viral Pinoy Big Brother’s (PBB) show, the provincial
administrator highlighted the importance of good instructions in the classroom
to effect excellent learning outcomes.
“We thank the ABS-CBN, especially its show, Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), for
exposing us to the bitter truth of the challenges the Filipino youth are facing
today. And through our questions on this game, we see the importance of
history. This should be given emphasis on our subject,” Cruje said. (Edgar R.
