LGU Surigao Norte presents Agri-Fisheries plan to DA Caraga
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, May 20 (PIA) --To further boost the agri-fisheries development in the province, the local government unit of Surigao del Norte resently presented its Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Plan (CPAFEP) to the Department of Agriculture in Surigao City.
The plan is an offshoot from the input from city and municipalities in the province in line with the implementation of the Provincial-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Systems (PAFES).
The CPAFEP of the province covered various agri-fishery commodities such as corn, rice, high value crops, fisheries, and livestock.
Representatives from DA-Caraga’s banner programs, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, and academe review the plan and give their comments and suggestions for inclusion prior to its final plan packaging.
Rebecca Reyes Atega, Regional Technical Director for Operations of DA-Caraga said that the plan will be the basis for DA and other attached agencies for the co-financing scheme with the respective local government units.
Fil Victor Babanto, OIC Center Director of ATI-Caraga commended the Provincial Agriculture Office headed by Provincial Agriculturist Ruby Ann Lagahit and Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Provincial Veterinarian Life Shiela Cubillanes of Surigao del Norte for actively spearheaded the respective municipal and city LGUs in coming up with the said plan for the advancement of the agri-fishery sector of the province.
PAFES is embodied in this collaboration, the first pillar of the OneDA Reform Agenda with 18 key strategies laid out by Secretary William D. Dar for the transformation of the Philippine Agriculture. (DA- Caraga/PIA- Surigao del Norte)
