Caraga RDRRMC, RTF COVID-19 on red alert for upcoming elections
BUTUAN CITY -- The Caraga Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) and the Regional Task Force for COVID-19 will be on red alert for the upcoming elections on May 9.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Caraga, the executive arm and secretariat of the RDRRMC and chair of the RTF COVID-19, issued Thursday, May 5, the Advisory No. 30, directing all council and task force members, as well as local task forces (LTFs) and DRMM councils to be on red alert status from May 8 to 10, 2022.
"Inevitably, the COVID-19 pandemic remains a threat across the region amidst the consistent efforts to hamper its transmission and increase vaccination uptakes," the advisory said.
"With the upcoming national and local elections, there is an urgent need to mobilize all resources and personnel to their best capacities to assist the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for a COVID-free elections," it added.
All member agencies of the Regional Response Cluster and the LTFs are directed to adhere to the requirements and needs set by the Comelec through its field offices, and perform other duties and functions that it may prescribe from time to time.
OCD, as the head of the Task Group Resource Management and Logistics, will facilitate and coordinate the provision of medical supplies and other logistical requirements for COVID-19 operations as needed.
Intense preparations are now being undertaken by all concerned government agencies, with the national and local elections now only three days away. (DMNR/PIA-Caraga)
