NSTP students participate in "Oplan Linis"

BUTUAN CITY -- The 1501st Community Defense Center of the Reserve Command, Philippine Army, together with the National Service Training Program (NSTP) students composed of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Cadets and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) students of Caraga State University (CSU), Saint Michael College of Caraga (SMCC) and Northern Mindanao Colleges Incorporated (NMCI) actively participated in the simultaneous clean-up drive held Thursday, May 14, at Barangays 6, 7 and Tolosa, all of Cabadbaran City, and Barangay Bit-os in Butuan City.

According to Major Frances Belarmino, director of 1501st CDC, the activity is in line with the "Oplan Linis" of the 15th Regional Community Defense Group (15RCDG) with the theme, "Tulong ng Kabataan Para sa Bayan".

“This activity aims to conduct clearing of posters and other campaign materials used during the recently concluded national and local elections in schools and public places,” said Maj. Belarmino.

Belarmino added that the clean-up drive was also initiated as a way to promote nationalism among the youth and their simple way to contribute to nation-building.

The clean-up drive is in collaboration with Sgt. Rachel Saladaga (Reserve), NSTP director of SMCC; Sgt. Jasfer Jay Famador (Reserve), the NMCI NSTP director; and the corps of cadets of CSU- ROTC Unit.

Present also during the activity are some members of the Corps of Professors. (1501st CDC, 15RCDG/PIA-Caraga)
