Fleeing murder suspect voluntarily surrendered to Surigao Norte police
BUTUAN CITY -- A murder suspect who has been chased by police operatives voluntarily surrendered to Socorro Municipal Police Station (MPS) on Monday, May 16, with the presence of his relatives.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. declared the voluntary surrender of Arniel Ligalig Consigna alias "Jemboy", 32 years old and a native of Socorro town in Surigao del Norte, a murder suspect victimizing Christoper Tahud Gucor alias "Boboy," 46 years old, a resident in P3-A, Barangay Fort Poyohon, Butuan City, that transpired on the evening of May 15, 2022.
Citing the report of Butuan City Police Station (BCPS) 2, due to a personal grudge and under the influence of liquor, the suspect suddenly appeared and, without hesitation and any apparent reasons, mauled the victim using a metal tube, hitting the back of his head. The incident happened at the victim's residence.
The victim was immediately brought to Butuan City Medical Center for medical attention but was pronounced dead by his attending physician the day after the incident due to the severity of his head injury.
"This government's collaborative efforts with the community, demonstrating how the suspect's relatives assisted in his surrender to correct the suspect's wrongdoing while also providing justice to the victim and his family," said Director Caramat, Jr.
