Accordingly, GIS is a system that creates, manages, analyzes, and maps all types of data. GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data with all types of descriptive information. It is a type of database containing the geographic data, combined with software tools for managing, analyzing, and visualizing those data.
GIS software produces maps and other graphic displays of geographic information for analysis and presentation. With these capabilities, a GIS is a valuable tool that visualizes spatial data or builds decision support systems for the organization or the user.
A working GIS integrates five key components: hardware, software, data, people, and methods. Hardware is the computer on which a GIS operates. Today, GIS software runs on a wide range of hardware types, from centralized computer servers to desktop computers used in stand-alone or networked configurations.
A geotagging activity using the Geotag Camera at CENRO Bislig Arboretum, Rest and Recreation Area, and Barangay San Roque, Bislig City were also conducted and performed by the OJT students during the event. (NGPB/DENR-CENRO Bislig/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
