PSA SurSur registers more than half of the province's population in National ID
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- After more than a year of operation, The Philippine Statistics Authority-Surigao del Sur (PSA-SDS) has recorded 383,756 registrants in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 Registration as of August 15, 2022. Per record, the registrants are from ages 5 years old and over.
The PSA accordingly successfully registered more than half of the province’s total population at 642,255 from the 2020 Census of Population and Household (CPH).
PhilSys Step 2 Registration
involves capturing the registrant’s biometric data, including the iris scan,
fingerprint scan, and front-facing photographs. Applicants will present at
least one supporting document such as Birth Certificate, Passport, and other
valid IDs to confirm basic demographic data.
PSA-SDS revealed, that the
majority of the Step 2 registrants are from Fixed Registration Center and
LGU-based registration centers.
Among the two cities and 17
municipalities in this province, Bislig City has the highest total number of
registratons with 47,724, followed by Tandag City with 43,366.

Since January 24, 2022, the institutional Registration efforts of the province have recorded a total of 94,267 registrants in various institutions and barangay mobile registrations.
The PSA-Surigao del Sur has
partnered with different institutions such as universities, hospitals,
government agencies, district jails, military headquarters including the
Department of Education, Medical Centers, and the Bureau of Jail Management in
the province.
The PhilSys Surigao del Sur
Fixed-registration center is open to interested PhilSys applicants for a more
convenient and alternative mode of registration.
Registrants can proceed to
the RCP Building 1, Ground Floor, Capitol Road, Telaje, Tandag City from 8 AM
to 5 PM from Monday to Friday. The schedule may change if the Registration team
is arranged for mobile registration.
The PSA is currently open to partnerships for institutional and mobile registration for institutions, and barangays, respectively. The head of the institution and Punong Barangay are required to send a letter of request to PSA. After the coordination process, PhilSys registration kits and personnel will be deployed to the requesting institutions and barangays.
